I just wanted to comment on the cool Karen's Cube graphic. I think it is really ... well, cool. :-)
I also like the Karen and Rich background from the opening of their first TV special.
Wow! Double delights!!

Speaking of Karen's Cube ... how cool would it be to have a Rubik's cube with, instead of solid colors, pictures of Rich, Karen, K & R together and the Carpenters band?!
GoodOldDreams ... just HOW artistic are you?

Thanks WJ7...
I love playing around with pictures. If all works as planned I will soon be getting a photoshop program - with that program I'll be able to do even more than what I'm able to do with my Photo Explosion software which I bought about three weeks ago.
Here is the cube and the K&R image:

Hi WJ7, That Photo Explosion program that Rick mentioned sounds cool. Usually I build my special effects from scratch. Here is what I came up with according to your descriptions:

Nice job Dreams... you must have a huge selection of templates saved on your computer to be able to put these things together. Where did you find the rubics cube templates? I like them.
Here's a new one I just made...I just love modern technology... and software makes it so easy...

Hey Rick - Thanks for puting the pictures in the thread. You have a really nice graphics program there. I look forward to your new creations when you obtain the new photoshop program you want. Toys these days ... I love 'em! ::)I like the new Karen cube you've created, too ;-)

Hi WJ7, That Photo Explosion program that Rick mentioned sounds cool. Usually I build my special effects from scratch. Here is what I came up with according to your descriptions: Dreams...........how awesome these are. Yes, today's technology is amazing and there's so much one can do (as I am slowly finding out), but something like this just astounds me. I'm especially fond of these particular photographs. Could the one of Richard be of him in his video Together at Christmas? That's what it looks like. BRILLIANT work~ Thanks. Tim

Rick, I was a bit blown away when I noticed the cube for the first time. It's awesome. I'm sure you'll be doing all sorts of amazing things sooner than you think, as easily as all this Techie stuff comes to you! Oofah! If only it did for me...............Ugh! Thanks - the new photos and fun stuff on the forum look awesome, as usual. Tim

Hi Rick, I like your animated gifs --- they are virtual toys in virtual reality! (Too bad they don't make Photo Explosion for the Macintosh.) I do most of my photo retouching work in Photoshop, but don't use pre-existing templates or filters. Typically I research what photos are out there first, take my own photos if necessary, determine what visual effect I want and then figure out the technical requirements and techniques that can be used to achieve it. To make the image look convincingly real, sometimes the entire process can be a bit time-consuming, but the results are very satisfying and rewarding.

I chose these particular photos because they best illustrated KC, RC and band members in this "photocube" format. The biggest challenge for me was to figure which photos will still look recognizable with the thick criss-cross lines of the Rubik's cube obscuring vital details of each picture. Also, I had to take into account the distortion of the photos at various angles may render them unrecognizable. The photo of Richard at the piano does look somewhat like it's from "Together at Christmas Again," but it is actually a video capture from the "Close to You: Remembering the Carpenters" documentary where he was talking about "We've Only Just Begun." The photo of Karen singing to band members in their first TV special and the photo of Tony Peluso playing the guitar for "Goodbye to Love" were also video captures from this documentary. I believe the other two publicity photos were from around the time of "Horizon" and Karen's solo album.

WJ7, Yes, that would be really something old, something new. Thanks for inspiring me in this creative process in the first place!

Thanks Dreams... you answered several questions for me - the next one was going to be which program you use to create your works. I figured it was photoshop. Everything I've seen from you is outstanding. You have a good eye for fitting things together - very precise. Good job Dreams... I look forward to others in the future.

I love the new background pic of Karen doing that nice drum solo. She was one heck of a percussionist and I just downright adore pics of Karen playing the drums.

By the way... Merlin Jones, congrats you are now a Carpenters Online Silver member with your 45th post on the forum.
Thank you for being a friend!
