I just found some interesting clips from the 2002 BBC documentary "Close to You: The Story of the Carpenters." Similar to PBS' "Close to You: Remembering the Carpenters" in many respects, this documentary contains commentaries from Dionne Warwick, Frank Pooler, Karen Ramone, Badly Drawn Boy, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth and others, plus archival photos and clips not seen in the PBS version or in more extended form. There is a bit more coverage on their White House performance, Karen's solo album, marriage, Richard's more recent work and the Carpenters' legacy from the British perspective as well. Thank you for posting these links, Dreams. I hadn't seen them before. I will probably watch them again sometime today.
