What is your interpretation of this picture of Richard taken sometime around 1994?

Richard is 'so still in love' with his cars!

Good one Wisejester7 saying that "Richard is 'so still in love' with his cars" - a great take off from one of Karen's solo songs.
Richard is looking at the beautiful sunny Southern California sky - not a cloud in sight. Richard is on Top of the World.

Good one to you as well, Rick!
This is a good, upbeat picture of Rich. He looks like he is really enjoying his day.

Good pic....perhaps a rare pic since he keeps mostly to himself and his work and his Cars. I know he's middle aged now, but since mostly we see pictures of him when he's young, not at all meaning to be unkind but first of all he looks his age, and yet he's really happy. Still forever young by keeping busy, and looks like a California golden boy, enjoying that great sun in one of his fave cars. Perhaps he's cruising around the old Downey home front.

I find Richard often has this or a simular look when he is reflecting (look at Carpenters documentaries namely the "Forever" one and you will see what I mean). Often I see this look when he is either listening or watching Carpenters performances or songs. I interpret the look as either Richard is proud of the Carpenters legacy, misses Karen (even though he is smiling I often have seen simular expressions and almost see the void he must feel now and then with Karen gone and not here to share rhe memories but that may be just me) or maybe a combination of both. If it is the sign of the Carpenter performing arts center this interpretation would fit I assume that whatever he is looking at is Carpenters related and he is smiling with pride whether reliving the memory or reflecting on a great carreer and legacy the Carpenters music created. And so he should be proud.
