Hi all. Bet u all wondered where I have been. Well so did I! Ill & so busy has kept me off this fab site for a bit. So whatsd been happening in the UK of late?? On B B C 1 one of our major TV Channels they showed Only Yesterday a further documentory/update of the Cs last week at 1025 pm..an hour long programme it was fantastic with interviews & old TV bits n pieces. Richard looked great for 60 & we even got to see a 1981 interview from when K & R appeared on Nationwidenews( which I hadnt seen b4 ) telling the interviewer that she hadnt got annerexcior but that she was pooped & when further asked why she had dropped to 6 stone she snapped back " dont know what 6 stone is in pounds" & changed the subject. She really did look ill & I was quite shocked to hear her lie twice but as the good book says annorexics do go outta the way to hide the real truth. I still sat rivvited to the TV & Just hope me video recorded the programme ok as I havent had the time to check. I actually nearly missed the programme & only caught the pretrailer a short while b4 it was due to start. Woulda been gutted to have missed it. Any way its showing has re-entered Gold G H back into the charts again at no 70. I had hoped for Ult Collection 2 have also re-entered but well nice 2 have at least 1 LP back in. Greetings to Paddy another Brit in as a new member. Hope all is well with all on here. Carps 1000 ( Ken) in the UK so U dont have to be

Hi Ken... welcome back to the forum.
Thank you for the interesting tidbits on the recent documentary.
It certainly is very sad that Karen was in such denial about her illness. Sounds like the interview you mentioned happened just before she went to New York for rehabilitation.

Carps 1000 ( Ken) in the UK so U dont have to be Their business manager/lawyer Werner Wolfen remarked somewhat harshly and unsympathetically that Karen was the most truthful person he knew, but lied "like a trooper" about her anorexia. Hindsight is 20/20. As presented in the documentary, Karen and Richard were performing 6 to 7 days a week during their busy touring schedule and Richard noted that the usually energetic Karen had to take breaks between shows. Since anorexia nervosa was still not well known at the time, it is not hard to understand that Karen might have thought it was natural to attribute her startlingly gaunt appearance to exhaustion from work, not believing that she might really be in denial or "lying" outright about her compulsive dieting and its potentially negative consequences. Richard mentioned that Karen felt she looked great even at a time when audiences gasped at her bone-thin figure. This unfortunate dichotomous perception is still common when one loses objectivity about oneself in a weight-obsessed culture.
