2007 Carpenters log?

I was at work driving the van and thought what a great song to hear on Friday afternoon.
"Superstar" was broadcast on 99.5 FM "The Jewel" at 1 pm.

No Carpenters "hears" for me today. I was on a roll and I heard them a few times in the last three or so days.

I was fortunate enough to hear "We've Only Just Begun" today. Seems I manage to hear that one at least once to twice a week.

Thanks for the recent reports, everyone, and I'll try to get out an update this weekend. (Recently I was taking a nap with the radio on and was awakened with the startling realization that a Carpenters song was on. Being partly asleep, I couldn't recognize what song it was for about 5 seconds- then I knew it was "This Masquerade"- but someone else's rendition, so I went back to sleep.)

I wonder if it was George Benson's recording of "This Masquerade", that you heard on the radio.

Today, I heard "Rainy Days And Mondays" on the radio. The song came on right after "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies. What a contrast going from upbeat cutsie bubblegum pop to the dark and intense "Rainy Days...". Believe me my friends and I were singing and having a great time with "Sugar, Sugar". My friend Anna was even in the front passenger's seat in my car doing cheerleaders moves with her hands to the song - both my friends were singing loudly. But then when "Rainy Days" came on there was a gasp and my other friend in the car said, "oooohhh I love this song". And before you knew it we were singing "Rainy Days..." - We made some memories today.

Today, I heard "Rainy Days And Monday" - two days in a row now and also "For All We Know" on the radio. I switch between KEARTH101 and KOST for pop music. For class ic rock I'll listen to JackFM or KLOS. Overall though, I listen to my CD's quite a bit more than anything else - but since we've started this log I do listen to both regular radio and internet radio quite a bit more.

Today, I heard "Please Mr. Postman" at the mall. I was floored as I had been thinking about the song for the past two days - and bang I hear it in public.

I also had the privilege of hearing "I Won't Last A Day Without You" on KOST.

Don't forget that Roger Nichols was the other, albeit lesser known, song co-writer at the time. Like Paul Williams, Roger Nichols did some recordings of his own, such as:

Although I have not heard it until now, Roger Nichol's voice seems to sound a little bit distorted in these second-generation recordings. I recognize the nice musical key changes that typically takes place in the bridge of these songs, much like "We've Only Just Begun", "Rainy Days and Mondays" and "I Won't Last a Day Without You."

That's sweet. Karen has permeated the defenses of many a soul. It is hard not to return 'sweetness' to Karen. Even for those who claimed not to like Carpenters, many made the exception for Karen.
