Rick kindly suggested this new poll and I found it great. Obviously, I chose "Goodbye To Love" which I think is the best guitar solo in a ballad ever., and probably many of you agree with me. Anyway I specially mention "Two Sides" I love this "cascade of strings" and "I kept on loving you"
Regards
Jorge

Some excellent selections here JohnnyAngel, one of my favorites as for guitar work has to be "Please Mr. Postman" - but it's not listed here - Tony Peluso really gives his all in this song.
Of what you have listed I chose "Two Sides" - there is an array of guitars in this song - all nicely pieced together for a wonderful effect.
"Happy" also has some outstanding guitar work - and of course was written by Carpenters guitarist extraordinaire Tony Peluso.

Very well stated Tim. You are so right Tony's guitar work on this song never ages. It is just as thrilling today as it was 34 years ago.
btw... Tim, I really like your creative use of the graphics in your post.

I too had to go with Goodbye To Love Its such a famous solo and a Tony Peluso signature solo all his future solos are almost based on this one which is probably the case with alot of guitarists they have their own sound and signature they put on their solos and Tony is no exception. Plus its a classic solo and really broke new ground making it all the more clear why I chose it.

When I first heard "Happy" I thought wow this guitar sounds different from the normal Carpenters sound. But at the same time the light airy sound of the guitar is characteristic of the Carpenter sound, light and airy.

I agree that the guitar work in "Goodbye To Love" stands out- I recognized it as a standard even before I was an active Carpenters fan. I also am very impressed with the guitar playing (brief solo) in "Where Do We Go From Here."
