That's really neat! I sent the link to Becky, and asked if Madonna has ever approached Richard about singing for him or covering any of the songs in the catalog.

I seem to recall Madonna mentioning that Karen was an influence on her (believe it or not) and that she admired and respected Karen there is even one of her song that I cannot recall right now that is either about Karen or has some kind of Karen Carpenter connection. Not sure if its Angel, Rain, Take A Bow, This Used To Be My Playground or another one those four seem to come to mind. Anyhow Madonna does seem to like Karen so its not surprising she is singing Carpenter songs. Thanks for sharing this I never knew Madonna sang Carpenters songs thats cool.

I read somehwere that Madonna's "Rain" was inspired by "Rainy Days and Mondays".

Hi Enigma, Yes, you're absolutely right. I believe Karen was the muse behind Madonna's lyric of "This Used To Be My Playground", which was the theme song for the film A League Of Their Own. Kindest regards, magiclamp

Hey Folks: I've posted the same link some days ago on a thread called "An intersteting thing". I felt great when i found it 'cause not only Madonna sings Carpenters' songs, she did it in Buenos Aires!!!!! I also heard the song "Angel" was composed on Karen's memory

Kindest regards, magiclamp Hi magiclamp Welcome to "the family" thanks for refreshing my memory Madonna has mentioned Karen as an influence its really hard for any woman growing up at the time not to be influenced once they heard Karen sing at least I cannot imagine any singer not taking a few notes from one of the best of all time. Funny how the song Karen was the muse for was in a movie about a female baseball team a sport that Karen often played (or softball as well) wonder if Madonna knew that when she did "this used to be my playground", interesting coincidence.
