"These are days Karen Carpenter sang about..." This quote was used as the lead-in to the weather this afternoon on KDKA-TV's 4 PM weather segment. Those of us who have been vexed by a constant rain here in the Northeast know what the anchorman's comment was all about. I even took my album to work today, since it was raining too much to ride my motorcycle.

;D MY, that comment must have put a little sunshine in your day! I know this radio station is one you have mentioned before that plays a lot of Karen and Richard, I'm sorry the days have been somewhat dreary due to rain for you, but glad it's raining somewhere. I Love the unexpected moments like that when the Carpenters are played or something like that. >>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<< For me, such a moment occured the other day in the grocery store, and there comes Karen's voice with "For All We Know" AND I just have to quietly sing along with her. It's an automatic Response for me anyway! >>>>Though mom looked at me thinking I was trying to tell her something...since it was kinda noisy and such... Anyway, it's just "a given" fact that I'll be singing with Karen when she comes through! I just want the whole store to come to a stop when that happens like a freeze frame...and just let me get lost in the moment!

Katt, what a great post. Yes, I know what you mean. In the grocery store - in the mall - anywhere that I find Karen singing, I want everyone else to just be quiet so I can "appropriately" listen to what she has to say, and the "rich" manner in which she always delivers. I pictured you singing in the grocery store, while everyone around you was frozen, and you and your mom and Karen were the only animated beings. You got your shopping done a lot faster in that scenario, too! Dave, we have been in the same jet stream as you - first, we get the rain, then it heads your way. On the drive home Friday, when it was pouring outside, the DJ played all sorts of "rain" related tunes - Laughter in the Rain - Falling Rain - Raindrops Keep Fallin, and oh yes, Rainy Days and Mondays. I'm happy this DJ loves the Carpenters, rather than just skipping anything they did. He actually encourages listening to them. And, he plays them frequently. Lately, though, as opposed to the lyrics "rainy days and mondays always get me down,", I have more related to these: "...Talkin' to myself, and feelin' OLD." Hmmmmm.......wonder what THAT's all about? All my best, Tim
