:-/sometimes I catch a re-run of the Lawrence welk show.. His show, I believe was one of the last really entertaining shows. There are still times I laugh that I'm watching it when I think of how I couldn't stand it when I was growing up. Too hokey...old-fashioned, just for old folks... ...ANYWAY... AS popular as the Carpenters were, I'm sure some of their other songs were sung through those yrs. Mr. Welk did realize the importance of a variety of old as well as new songs. I was surprised to hear a guy ..the high tenor..Joe Finney sing "Without a Song"... Of course that's not one of the C's hit songs...and it's an older song....And Finney can really sing... but of course, I love to listen to the opening of the C's "As Time Goes By" which starts out with W/Out a Song. ....just some thoughts....

Yes, by watching the shows now, as you may know, usually one of the musicians or singers who were on the show, kind of narrate or tell where they are now and what they're up to, and one of the women mentioned that she and about 3 other women sing in Branson. And I think maybe Raulna is one of them, although she has her own personal touring going on. She and Guy have been divorced for a while, but still bump into each other sometimes. Sure is nice to catch a re-run because Welk really had a wonderful (excuse the pun there, since Welk always said.."wonderful, wonderful!)...show. Of course the Lennon sisters sound like they are still performing some.. I didn't recall that Raulna especially used to sing the Carpenters songs, but I'm not surprised. It used to be IMPossIBle ..to not turn on the radio back then and hear R. and K. and as it's known "yesterday once more.." also thanks for your thoughts..
