It seems only appropriate this Easter weekend that I just came across a spectacular feat of digital video technology, resurrecting Karen and Richard in song two decades after they originally did the video for "Top of the World." Check out this link and prepare to be amazed! www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxcKttnn_48&search=carpentersEnjoy!

Thanks for the post GoodOldDreams...
I've seen this clip several times already. I really like it Richard did a good job with it. My only wish is that he used a video of Karen which hasn't been used several times over by now. It would be nice if Richard used a lesser known clip of her. Nontheless well done.

I think there might be several good reasons why they chose this particular clip. Firstly, the more familiar that we as the viewers are with the original video, the more astounding it is for us to see this altered version by comparison. The updated version of Richard is integrated so flawlessly and seamlessly into the original video that we would not really notice anything "different" has been done to it otherwise if a lesser known clip were used. Secondly, this is a happy, sunny tune where a seemingly healthy Karen is seen interacting directly with Richard in many of the the same frames, making some funny facial expressions to each other and having a good time performing together. Thirdly, the song they were singing was co-written by Richard himself, which was made into a surprise hit by popular demand (especially in Japan), not by how it was originally marketed. Just my thoughts... There are quite a few other videos of the Carpenters on the "You Tube" website currently, many of which I (and maybe some other members) haven't seen before until now. Some of my favorites are: VH1's 100 greatest women www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFwCpLtVkVk&search=carpentersRichard introducing family members, talking about favorite songs in his repertoire and playing piano solo www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ30FTL1MWc&search=carpentersHigh Crown Milk Chocolate commercial www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cpcoc1Af8Ec&search=carpentersMany thanks to "newvillefan" and others for posting these and other videos!

Amazing. I'm stunned. What a wonderful video. Of course, my flash player doesn't line up the voices very well with the music, but the essence was there. What a very cool thing to have done. And you're absolutely right Dreams, it's seamless. When KC rests her arm on RC's shoulder, it's as if it always happened with RC at this age. Modern technology is way, way beyond me, but I must tell you I never expected to see anything like this. In the first place, I never thought Richard would do something like this. Guess I was quite wrong. It's wonderful that he did participate in this revideoing of these songs, and this one just made my day. Big ole' tears in these eyes as I was watching, thinking what "MIGHT" have been. How he still must feel on a regular basis....I can't imagine. Thanks for sharing this information. I'd never seen them before, and believe me when I tell you, I enjoyed the view. Best, Tim Ooooo Oooooo - KATT!!!!! Be sure to look at this one! Karen is WEARING THE SILVER RING WITH THE CHARM ON IT that you spoke about, and you can see it very plainly when she reaches down for the flower. Thought about you immediately, and had to modify my post! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cpcoc1Af8Ec&search=carpenters

Did any of you notice that Richard's voice is very close to actor Tom Hanks? Incredible!

Hi Tim, The video files linked on the free youtube website are often changing (due to needing more space to post new videos, audience feedback, etc.), so it is best to view them as soon and as often as possible since there is no telling how long they would be accessible. The first video I mentioned in this thread was attributed to RoadOde.com, but it is not in the current Carpenters playlist on that site either. I am in the process of trying to getting the webmaster, a dedicated Carpenters fan himself, to post this particular video on the site (on a more permanent basis) for all of us to enjoy. Hope he responds soon... Thanks for the link you have referenced. I have never thought of Palma's lyrics to "Love Me for What I am" in terms of Karen's anorexia and body image. it seems very appropriate in that context also...
