;D ;D Just looked at our top 75 in depth & I have noticed that there r quite a few "oldens in it inc the Sedaka thing who is at No 20 with his pile of tripe also Barry Manillow is the top 20 too but goin out.& Bette Midler & Beverly Knight....aw the oldies but goodies really are the best...cept Sedaka.... this makes Gold G H Carpenters a very successful LP indeed as apart from Only Yest & 69-73 no other Carpenters LP as recharted so many times in its life & as the new charts are due out monday it looks like Gold will go even higher (it made no 4 ) begining of the year (I think) or was it last year. 6 yrs old this LP is....& it keeps on goin top 20.....so beat that ABBA...I always said Carpenters rule & u were only boil in the bag stock..even tho I liked you. Nice to see Neil Diamond back in the charts again too. There are an awful lot of old LPs by other artisits too that have suddenly re-energised up the charts too. Im bombarding me gob with malteasers already just thinkin about mondays new chart. Ken carps1000

Hi Ken,
What do you think contributes to this re-charting phenomenon in the U.K.? Have there been some promotional efforts to revive interest in select "oldies but goodies" in the U.K., in the same way the TV broadcast of "The Karen Carpenter Story" here in the U.S. had produced a resurgence of interest in the music of the Carpenters?
