One of the local PBS stations in the San Francisco bay area will be re-broadcasting the documentary "Close to You: Remembering the Carpenters" next Thursday. I hope that they will be using the version in which Richard performs and chats with the local host during the pledge breaks, and that this program will help to draw new fans. An interesting aside during one of the pledge breaks was that the piano bench which Richard was sitting on suddenly collapsed and the quick-witted host ad-libbed that this is an example of why the station needed contributions from viewers. Luckily, Richard was not hurt and the station did not get sued!

I have the DVD also. I purchased it first on video when I first saw the PBS broadcast. I have enjoyed watching the DVD several times. I usually watch it whenever it's rebroadcast on our local PBS station. I've recorded it a few times just to get Richard's comments during the pledge breaks. I bought my original video during one of those pledge breaks for $100.00.
