During a feature on the Empire State Buildings new observation deck, they played TOPTW from begining to end. When the segment was over the Carpenters were mentioned as musics all time finest performers. Did anyone else catch this? Jim

This reminds me of a national overnight news show on network TV some years ago (it might have been on ABC) where they customarily show the weather info in various cities around the country to the accompaniment of music on particular themes (such as weather-related songs). Imagine my delight one night when they played a medley of the Carpenters' songs for an extended period! It was better than any dream I could have had or imagined.

Hi GoodOldDreams - love the name...
That's neat a weather channel playing an extended medley of Carpenters tunes. for some reason in my mind Carpenters and weather broadcasts seem to go good together - don't know why.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the reply...
I think the weather often colors our moods and feelings, and the Carpenters somehow speak eloquently to them. Imagine a cold, bleak, rainy morning and have Karen sing to you in her warm, personable voice about "Rainy Days and Mondays" or a bright sunny day about "not a cloud in the sky... got the sun in my eyes"...

:-[I didn't see that either Jim, but wish I would have....for some reason...I guess we're especially VERY MUCH IN TUNE with the C's, but to hear them unexpectedly is always WONDERFUL!!! AND OF COURSE WHEN WE LISTEN TO THEM ON PURPOSE ....TOO.. And yes, it surely is true about how there are many songs associated with the weather and the C's. .................................................... I flipped on the tv tonight on the PBs station I think and caught some of a documentary about the city Las Vegas...how it started out ...and then how it "re-invented" itself...with tearing down of the earliest buildings to build new ones.. Anyway, at one point, there's a shot of the overview of the whole city during daylight...and Top of Wor. was played but not the C's ...it was some group...like the Cowsills....anyway, it didn't last long and I was disappointed in a small way that they didn't play the C's version.
