"Because We Are In Love" was written by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis for Karen to sing during her wedding to Tom Burris. The song was included on their 1981 album "Made In America".

I gave the song an "It's Okay". Mainly because this just is not one of Karen's best vocals. There are several parts - especially in the chorus - where Karen is really singing too high and it sounds strained and out of her range.
The lyrics are really very well written and the arrangement and orchestration is really very nice. But for the most part the song just does not quite reach that "chill" factor status. "We've Only Just Begun" definitely remains Carpenters' definitive wedding song.

I loved hearing Karen's full 3 octave range in this song. She handles it extremely well, conveying all the proper moods that the song requires. For me, I loved hearing this song, and this song gave me chills and still does. A very beautiful song.

I find it simply OK, but is not a great single choice (it was a B-side single). what I find difficult to swallow is the song introduction.

I didn't know this was part of K.'s wedding...but I love it...I do think that there is a place or two where the chorus or other instruments drown her voice out, but I love the ups and downs of it....I agree though that W. Only J. Begun is still the ultimate wedding song by the C's.

I have always enjoyed this song and was excited around the time it was being recorded because evelyn, ( fan club secretary), said it was going to be a huge recording on the MIA

continued: Karens voice does explore the incredible range of this song and I think it was a very important song for her. I will always enjoy listen to it because it brings back so many memories for me...

This is one of Karen's best vocal performance of all-time. I get the chills everytime I listen to it.
It's my #5 favorite Carpenters song.
In this case, *Love it* is not enough..., it's a *More Than Love it* for me. [glow=red,2,300][/glow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow][shadow=red,left,300]Roland Chayer[/shadow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow]

What you say is true Roland for the most part. Most of Karen's vocal on this song is impeccable. Though there are a few parts where her voice is a bit too high for her comfort range and the tone is not as smooth as normal.
At 3:23 to 3:24 where she sings 'Because we are...' Karen is out of her comfort range.
Also at 3:42 and 4:15 when she sings 'when love abides' - just not as smoothly refined as in other songs. It's only in three very small parts of the song - but it's definitely there - I can hear it. Still the song is very good.
... once again listening too close to every little nuance in Karen's voice.

Okay, let me explain...
In *Beacuse We Are In Love(the Wedding Song)*, on the 3 parts(notes) that you're refering to, Karen hits a B, which is not the higher note she can do. The way she does the B in that song is a soft way of doing it because the song requires soft singing.
If you take a song like *My Body Keeps Changing My Mind*, a driving disco song with drums and everything, Karen hits a C(Fly at 2:25)), which is higher than a B, Karen sings it great again, but, in more driving manner. I'll leave Roland and Rick discuss the technicalities of the song and just say I voted to leave this song it was a nice touching song written for Karen by Richard and John but it does not give me chills at all I do not think it fits in with the rest of the album I would have preferred they put The Uninvited Guest of another song in its place and save this on for a b-side or a bonus on a compilation of something like that. Simply put I am not a fan of the song and I generally skip it and rarely listen to it.

Well guys, I don't know all the technical stuff that Rick and Roland do, but I really love this song. It's very different from anything else they ever recorded. Knowing it was written for Karen's wedding has always made the song endearing to me. Being a complete romantic, I love the lyrics and arrangement and Karen's vocals. For me it's just the top.

I voted for Okay I don't like the versus, but love when she hits the low note in the word, "discover." I love the choruses, though. Maybe with better versus, it could be a great song.
