MacArthur Park....what a perfect song for Karen!! I was listening to it, and it was my first time to hear it.(the disco version) It is such an adventureous tune for Karen to record. The part where Donna Summer sings...1:07...where she holds that long note...and then it sounds as if she is seeing Yeehaw!! (THAT sounds like Karen!) Which is a word Karen would use in concert many times...esp on Jambalaya... My thoughts, Cameron

I like Donna Summers version of this song but I much prefer the Richard Harris version that version I love. Still either way I agree Karen would have done a great job on the song and I would love to have heard her record it. Its such a beatiful song from a musical standpoint even if the lyrics are kind of silly both Summer and Harris do a great job vocally on this song so I could just imagine how Karen would do on it.

??! ??! ??! Absolutely! Cam, I am so glad you made a seperate thread on this. I'm thinking of all songs karen could have covered this one most likely would have fit her best. And yes both Richard Harris and Donna Summer have done an outstading job with it. I'm am slightly more partial to Donna Summer - but then again Summer is my second fave female vocalist. I envision Karen's or Carpenters rendition of this song starting out intimately and then building into Tony Peluso's dramatic electric guitar power chords. Similar to what they did with "Tryin' To Get The Feeling Again". The song would have been a three time hit if Carpenters were to have recorded it.

I love Weird Al Yankovic's version of this song, which he calls "Jurrassic Park". It was insane.
Do you think Weird Al would have parodied a Carpenters song? What would Karen have thought if he did? (Or polka-ed a Carpenters song, as W.A.Y. has been known to polka least-likely songs in medleys. My favorite one is where he polka-ed the Spice Girls, Hanson, Marilyn Manson and a few others.)
