;D Soon it will be 22 yrs. since Karen's death, I believe that's the right #....I don't want this to be a downer thread...so, right today, in celebration of such a wonderful, talented woman....if you wanted to give something up like you would give a gift to her...maybe not anything necessarily store bought, maybe something you would make for her(for those out there who know how to sew or bake or etc.) or something you have on hand that means a lot to you, a poem, a song, or gesture for someone else to honor her what would it be...you may want to give it a think... I'm not even sure what I would do.. perhaps just have a nice get together with a few folks I know...find out what Karen's favorite flower was and get some together for the centerpiece on the table. Play her music of course. and maybe play a game of Monopoly or whatever... Some people I know are not very familiar with her music, so they would be hearing it!
any thoughts?....I may be on the verge of deleting this note..since I'm not good expressing what I mean...
oh well...maybe y'all have an idee..

Please don't delete it..., ideas will come...
Personally, at the moment, I'm recording an instrumental song and, sometimes, I think that I should call it..., [shadow=red,left,300] [glow=red,2,300]Karen Carpenter[/glow][/shadow] ..., or something related to the love I feel for her... [glow=red,2,300][/glow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow][shadow=red,left,300]Roland Chayer[/shadow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow]

At the moment what comes to mind for a gift for Karen would be the 4 Mickey Mouse limited edition tins on dvd from the Disney Treasures collection. Karen did like MM so she would probablly love them. As for flowers I believe white lilies and red roses were her favorites so a bouquet of those two flowers would be included in any gift I gave Karen.

:-[very good thoughts ...that would give you more time, Dave as you mentioned..a gift for her b'day...and I did think of something to do with Mickey Mouse or Disney.. often it is just simple things we give or find such as you said Dave about the angel for your tree.

$% $% $% $% It would be from me a gift from the heart undoubtedly in the form of words of some kind - either a letter attempting to say how incredible I feel her talent is - and how appreciative of it I am....like the many letters I did send to the fan club when KC was still with us. I like the idea of the addition of the flowers, Enigma. I think Karen would like that. And Dave, you're right, perhaps a tiny something Mickey would be added - just to be sure she smiled. It would be awesome to be able to do this, for sure. Great thread, Smoothie. ~My best, Tim

I would write her a poem and give that to her along with a rose and a beautifully crystal Mickey Mouse and specially made crystal drum sticks. The best for the best! $? @@

Hi Guys, Well, I will, of course, listen to her music and watch her videos. But, I think for me...celebrating and remembering her life, is by showing other people, who are not too aware of her music, what a gifted singer she was, as well as a great drummer, but more so on the singing aspect, as she was phenomenal...magestical. They are ususually blown away by hearing/seeing Karen Carpenter.

Cameron $% Once again you're right on Cameron - I work with a bunch of "younger" people - all truly wonderful, but they missed Karen during her day, so when they walk into my office, and she is singing, they will always ask me who it is....and inevitably several days later, I'll be at their cube and I'll find a Carpenters CD there....I know I've made someone's life just a bit richer having introduced them to Karen and Rich and those beautiful harmonies. And that voice of Karens........mmmmmmm...how sweet IS that? ~Best, Tim $?

Cameron Oh yes Cam sharing Karens legacy that she work so hard on all of her life would be/is a great gift to her I feel she is so vastly underrated because people don't dig deeper and learn more about her and her music. I also love your ideas of songs and poetry so unique and personal and something that Karen is sure not to have. Also things like that from the heart have no price tag... are priceless. Smoothie I am glad you decided to keep this post a really good topic! &^ *%

With her beautiful and tender voice Karen has touched the soul of millions of people. I believe more so than any other singer who came out of the 70's. She had a wonderful and unique style in voice. deep, dark, rich, lilting, tender, and bold. Truly a one of a kind.

@@ ???I indeed also so very much agree Cam... I'm glad people are discovering and re-discovering the wonderful music of R. and K.! ::)Even though Karen was mostly a grown woman when she really got into the musical world for a career, she was still young, and when I think of how she liked Mickey M....I think some of that is that she may have missed out on some of her childhood. But to collect Disney stuff or Boyd's Bears, or anything is not unusual at all. It's just she missed out on a lot of life in general, even though she enjoyed what she did. It really is interesting to hear your thoughts on things.
