Here goes part 2 of the triology. I thought that Sentimental Journey would be a good title for the album, and the song Sentimental Journey would be a logical choice as a song on the album. I`ve had such love for the song ever since I heard Rosemary Clooney`s version of it, what a great song it is!
So here are some of my suggestions:
Sentimental Journey Manhattan (I love this one!!) Mr. Bojangles
So keep the songs comming people, and hopefully find some that will play on the title of the album. Songs of times gone by, reminiscing etc. Hope you like it!!

Sentimental Journey... Let's see... "Dream (When You're Feeling Blue)" - This is a lovely song which can only be enhanced with Karen's silky soulful voice. "April In Paris" - Another one Karen could really pour her heart into.

^^ $% Christian, Yes, this is a great tune - it's the tune Bob Hope adopted as his theme song. I was fortunate enough to play in an orchestra for Bob Hope in the late 80's when he came to Springfield. What a super guy he was. This would be a wonderful, lighthearted song for Karen to sing. She would do the song with just the right touch of "fancy", I feel certain. Great selection. ~All the best, Tim $% $%

What about a recording of "There`s No Business Like Show Business"? NOt that it`s a fantastic standard, but it would be so fun to hear Karen sing it. Also Cole Porter`s "It`s De-lovely" would have been great!

A new favourite, also heard performed by Rosemary Clooney, and one that I would love to hear KAren sing is the song "I Wish You Love". What a good song!
For those of you who love the standards and a good performer, I will highly recommend Rosemary Clooney. Rosie had 2 different careers, one in the 50`s and 60`s, and one in the 80`s and 90`s. The 2 periods are so different, both musically and vocally. But they are both great!
The first time I fell in love with a voice was in the early 1990`s when I heard Karen Carpenter. It happened again, for the 2nd. time, just about 8 months ago when I heard Rosemary Clooney sing. These 2 voices are my 2 favourites, and even if I love Linda Ronstadt and others, Karen and Rosie just made me fall in love. THis might shock some people, but their voices remind me of each other. While Karen is purer (cleaner voice), they both stand out with so much warmth and character, and nobody can interpret a song like them. I kinda think of them as singing mother and daughter. They both make you feel the song and the lyrics, like they`re singing just for you and that they mean the words they sing.
Go check out Rosie, especially the standards albums. But the 50`s stuff is good too.

Rosemary Clooney was due to perform at Carpenter Center in March 2002 ....sadly she had to cancel as she underwent cancer operation & treatment ....dying in Summer 2002.... Rosemary Clooney , Peggy Lee, Ella, Sarah Vaughan ....all great vocalists ....Carpenters recordings with the other three would have been a lasting treasure .... Peter
