Hi Rick! I'm always on the lookout for new interesting stuff - or some nice things I've missed - and this was surely a real treat! Great music, thanks for pointing the way once again!

Hi Timo... thank you for posting the link. What a great poll. Ann Wilson is #1 by a long shot on this poll. I ended up voting for Pat Benatar... I love Pat, she is one of my all-time favorites. I have almost every album she ever released. I noticed Ann Wilson is 58, that the same age Karen would have been right now, had she lived. I found it interesting that Ann uses Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris recordings to warmup. I also like Emmylou Harris quite a bit... she is outstanding. In one of the responses someone mentioned Grace Slick as being very powerful... I have to disagree. I've heard her sing live (and although her voice may be loud) she sings off-key and flat all over the place. she sounds great in the studio... but live she is not a true singer. k.d. lang on the other hand is one of those true blue vocalists, she can sing with the best of them. Stevie Nicks came in #2 on this poll, but I have to strongly disagree with that one. she may be an interesting personality (believe me I do like her quite a bit). In her heyday her voice had a lot of soul and it's own unique sound... but as far as singers go her voice is very flawed... she's good but only with a certain type of song. Someone mentioned Linda Ronstadt... and I agree she should have been in this poll. she is truly a fine vocalist... not as good though as Ann Wilson or Pat Benatar... but still pretty good. Oddly enough I never cared for Ronstadt's voice. I think Carly Simon should have been on this poll.

Yeah, great singers, Ann, Pat, k.d and the rest. This poll seems to have been a "clicking-match" between an Ann Wilson fan and a Stevie Nicks fan but there's no denying that Ann very well could be number one - she's certainly much better than Stevie!

I guess I should view this part of the forum more often but since I am here I will just say that I also love this song and the entire album of the same name by Heart I am a big fan of hearts and dont rank this song as high as alot of others but do like the song nice sea effects/recordings and peaceful feel to the song. I have to rank ann wilsons voice as one of the best even though it is sister nancys guitar work that draws me more to heart than anns voice. there are few female vocalists that can match power combined with purity like ann can. As for Karens attempt at this song on her solo record she could definately pull it off in her own style and I also would loved to have heard her rendition of this song had she chose to cover it.

As you know Rick when I like an artist I tend to get every tidbit of info I can on them and Heart was no exception your preferred songs and comments indicate that you like them during the period when Roger Fisher was with them(maybe just a coincidence) and I felt when he left alot of the spirit, heart (no pun intended) and rock edge left heart as well. He was not as technically sound as Howard Leese but he had alot more spirit and heart and was not as formulatic as Howard was and I think it showed in the music of Heart. Ironically one of my favorite Heart albums was 1982s Private Audition dispite its eratic nature half the record I loved the other half was sub par but not bad being a nancy wilson fan I also love the songs she sings for heart especially the Private Audition record other songs I like from Heart tend to be lesser known songs like One Word, How Deep It Goes, Rockin The Heaven Down as well as the better known Love Alive and Minstral Wind Also I have never lost interest in Heart they are not what the used to be but I still enjoy their newer material like Jupiters Darling etc I always find some good material even among their weakest releases and Nancy Wilson never disappoints me with her guitar playing or Ann with her voice. Just some comments/thoughts on Heart you now have the E story! You know my feelings on MIA I like it even if it is not the Carpenters strongest effort. As for Karens solo record I would not call it unique their are many elements in the record and Ramones signature sound is on the record but I still do find it refreshing everytime I hear it.
