FIVE STARS!! I Can't say enough about this song. I guess I love it because it means so much to me and has so much meaning in general.
For me, it reminds me of the special people in my life who sometimes I may forget to call or check on a loved one.
Also, a friend of mine was leaving her church to relocate after many years and made a slide show of her many friends she had made. She asked me if I could put music in the background and I chose "Sometimes." We ended the slideshow with the words showing and music notes floating down the screen. She thought it was a touching song and absolutely loved it.
I could go on and on but to me, the piano part in the beginning is lovely and Karen's voice to the end just makes it even more lovely. Henri Mancini's daughter did a great job with this song.

In the rock era it took great courage to be soft. Karen and Richard did soft better than anyone else and this song proves it. Written by Henry and his daughter Felice, Sometimes was given to the Carpenters especially to record. ......and it was a good choice. From the opening with the simple, yet elegant piano to the beginning of Karen's vocals this song conveys what is really important in life - our relationships with people. This is the song that I hit the repeat button and just keep listening to it. I don't stop because I've had enough, but because it's just not healthy to listen to anything that much!!! With the craziness of the world, it's nice to know there's a place I can come to that is comforting and true.

A beautifully done song...but one of their weaker ones...compared to other gems of theirs...

4 stars simple, effective, and perfect Karen's quiet vocals and Richard's piano playing perfectly score this sentimental song. A beautiful way to say "Thank You" and a great way to close a great album.

A charming song, made all the more poignant by Karen's passing.
