I'm Ken, my 1st experience listening to Karen sing was 1973 , I was 15 yrs old, I think the song was A Love song, " Why do Doves suddenly appear Everytime you are near, just like me they long to be close to you. I was on a date with a girl named Angela from my Band Class in Nashville,Tn. at a school named John Trottwood Moore, we danced to this song together, that I owned the .45 LP played on my phonograph. The date didn't turnout as planned, but it was memorable of the dance & song. I guess Karen was 23yrs old I think. By 81 I would have been 23 yrs old. I think she was coming out of her own as a woman ready to spread her wings, that were clipped by her own inhibitions, the solo album, that would have given her strength to grow , not to end the Carpenters which I'm sure she would never leave Richard, but her independent would have done great things for both of them. The bulimia nervosa, could have died with the release of the album as she would have matured from her fans opinions , cause that was a great composure of songs & performance as well. This would have shot the Carpenters into the next error of their music together too . I do miss her still , though it's been 34 years now, I can imagine her Mother as she passed from this World & into Heaven where she & Karen would have found each other & the embrace would last for hours . Karen was comming out of her delima, the ephatac if she had got past that day without doing I think would have been past up if she would have gotten to Pat Boones daughters house , Karen would have been convinced by her friend of the reinforcement she needed to quit bulimic actions & see herself as a good looking woman with a little weight was good cause she had found her true self. Here's to you Karen !!
