A friend came into town this weekend. We made it to the Carpenters Performing Arts Center at Cal State Long Beach. We really enjoyed the displays. We then drove to Downey and cruised by the Now and Then album over house on Newville St. It is still there. The annex is gone however. In its place is a horrific house with a large eagle statute and two lion statues. Gross! Afterward we went to the Downey Library down the street from Downey High. The display there is small. However, it was worth the stop because they have a very nice collection of Carpenters CDs that can be checked out. I ended up borrowing 5 CDs myself (and I am not a resident of Downey). One of the CDs is a Japanese only CD called "By Request." The CD cover jacket was all in Japanese. If you live in the Southern California area, I highly recommend making use of the library. Chances are that you will see Carpenters CDs there that you may have not known existed. -Mo Lee

Hi! I am completely brand new to this forum so please forgive me if I'm still learning as I go along. Very soon I will be buying my first house. It has been a dream of mine to recreate the Mediterranean dining room chair and table set that was once a part of the Newville house. I was fortunate enough to visit Downey and talk with the owners back in 2011, but unfortunately this set was sold at the Carpenters yard sale they had.
Does anyone have, or know where to locate pictures of the dining room set? I know a company who will gladly customize a dining room set to any design I would want so this dream can finally become reality with a little help. Any ideas would be most appreciated!
Thanks,
