Richard Wright, famous pianist/organist/songwriter for the wonderful 70's phenomenon, PINK FLOYD, has died at the age of 65. Remember, I was a "late bloomer" to the sounds of PINK FLOYD. I was too busy listening to and learning CARPENTER tunes and BILLY JOEL tunes as well as songs by Jerome Kern and Cole Porter and Antonio Carlos Jobim - to mention just a few - to listen to anything else. Too bad for me. I vividly recall the first time I heard Dark Side of the Moon, and The Wall. I was absolutely blown away at the jazz riffs in this "rock" band from the 70's. These musicians, Roger Waters and David Gilmour and Richard Wright, and the others were absolutely knocking down any barriers that might have been put up in terms of what works in rock n roll at that time, and I missed it......but I did, eventually catch-up to these artists, and really like their music, a lot. Much of it was groundbreaking. Interestingly, it's as fresh to me today as it was when I finally began listening to it some 15-18 years ago, now. Thoughts on Richard Wright, or anything regarding Pink Floyd? I know Rick is a fan of their music. I wish you all the best from here in my corner, Tim

I was also saddened by reading about his death in the newspaper this morning. He was a very important part of Pink Floyd's sound - the music lives on forever. I've always been fascinated by the song 'Us and Them' and that was written by Richard.
