Here are two movie songs that I want to share with everybody. These are two which have followed me and stayed with me since the 80's.
the first is from the movie "Color Purple" is called "Miss Celie's Blues" and was sung by Tata Vega who performed as the voice of Shug Avery who was played by Margaret Avery in the movie. Tata Vega is a fantastic Gospel and southern soul singer primarily popular in the 70's and 80's. Her performance as the voice of Shug Avery gave her career a much needed boost in the mid to late 80's.
The second is an elegant song titled "This One's From the Heart" from the from the 1982 Francis Ford Coppola musical "One From The Heart". This beautiful song is performed by Tom Wait and the ever so elegant Crystal Gayle.
At 2:30 in the song Crystal Gayle sings "I can't tell is that a siren or a saxophone and when she sings the word "saxophone" a saxophone plays behind her voice and it somewhat sounds like a siren. this was a very interesting effect in the song.
