Along with Karen Carpenter I have several favorite female artists of varying genres and vocal styles. One of my big favorites is Chaka Khan, her voice is pure soul and the music is variations of funk, soul and disco.

One of my favorites is "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus (featuring Chaka Khan) a Top 3 hit from 1974.

Yes, Chaka Khan is great. She's still recording and released an album in September 2007 which was pretty good.

Chaka Khan is truly a powerhouse vocalist, but she also has the ability to sing in smooth and rich tender tones. She's quite versatile and very rhythmic.
