Rising on the shore the ocean came Walks along the waves of velveteen His only thought was love for me
From Maybe its You
I’ve been thinking these past few days, it might be time to leave.
From (I'm Caught Between) Goodbye And I Love You
and
And darlin' when you been satisfied And it isn't know you no more Think of me, I'll be here alone Waitin' for you to find your way back home

In your mind you have capacities you know To telepath messages through the vast unknown Please close your eyes and concentrate With every thought you think Upon the recitation we’re about to sing -from Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft
When we were teenagers We went through a mean age We think we know just what you mean We were typical siblings With plenty of quibblings I think we can sing you this scene Big brothers are supposed to be smart So how come they act so dumb? ... ... ... ... Big brothers are not as big as they think ... ... ... ... Kid sisters, where do they get all the dumbness from? She just won’t leave alone, always tagging after me What a bummer, I don’t get no privacy Kid sisters, who do you think baby-sits? -from Christmas Portrait
Thoughts of leaving disappear Each time I see your eyes And no matter how hard I try To understand the reason Why we carry on this way we're lost in this masquerade -from This Masquerade
I’ll be seeing you In every lovely, summer’s day And everything that’s bright and gay I’ll always think of you that way I’ll find you in the morning sun And when the night is new I’ll be looking at the moon But I’ll be seeing you -from I'll Be Seeing You (Ella/Karen Medley)
Although he may not be the man some Girls think of as handsome To my heart he carries the key -from Someone To Watch Over Me (Ella/Karen Medley)

Were they added in a newer version in the compilation of the Christmas tunes? These words are from one of the Carpenters Christmas television specials. Karen and Richard are singing with Kristy and Jimmy McNichols. The premise was Kristy and Jimmy not getting along as well as they should...and Karen and Richard, being older, telling them that everything will work out just fine. Here is the whole lyric... Christmas Portrait Lyrics: When we were teenagers We went through a mean age We think we know just what you mean We were typical siblings With plenty of quibblings I think we can sing you this scene Big brothers are supposed to be smart So how come they act so dumb? Big brothers are supposed to have feelings But most of the time they’re numb When we’re looking for heroes We usually find a clown We’re supposed to look up at them So how come we’re looking down? (*) big brother are supossed to be nice So how come they act like nerds? Setting an awful example Using x-rated words; they’re really gross We diagnosis them right for the local shrink Big brothers, Big brothers are not as big as they think Nag, nag, nag, nag! Aren’t they the worst? the worst! (**) kid sisters, where do they get all the dumbness from? She just won’t leave alone, always tagging after me What a bummer, I don’t get no privacy Kid sisters, who do you think baby-sits? Hey mister, don’t you agree it’s the pits? We deserve some kind of loving cup Kid sisters, when ya gonna grow up? Oh yeah (yeah) wanna fight? (yeah) Repeat (*) and (**) at the same time But that was yesterday! (yesterday) And today (and today) we can say (we can say) That as the number ends (as it ends) We’re what every sister and brother should hopefully be The very best of friends! ;-)wisejester7

Thanks, wisejester7. It has been many years since I have seen the Christmas Portrait special, so I don't really recall this song until now. It's amazing that you remember the word "think" from the lyrics of this song! As you mentioned in the "Song of the Day" discussion thread, you listen to Carpenters Christmas music when ever the mood strikes you, so you have probably memorized all the verses! Only three more months to Christmas! [yellow];-)[/yellow]

Only three more months to Christmas! [yellow];-)[/yellow] There is something refreshingly pure about listening to Christmas music far, far removed from the Christmas season. You realize the sentiments are still present...those of good cheer, of love and warmth we all crave from our family and friends. And even though you don't see if reflected back in other faces, I think people are with me in 'spirit'. If we take the time to just communicate with each other, instead of doing our daily rushing about all the time, I'll think we'll find 'Christmas' present. Good will to All men. Peace on Earth. I can wait the 3 months ;-) ... no use in rushing a good thing! BTW, I remembered the line "Big brothers are not as big as they think". I remembered the gest of the song...and it's premise, but I had to look up the rest of the lyrics.

"Thinking about the times we spent in love" from the song "If we try" on the Lovelines cd. Great song choice Makapipi - "If We Try" is one of my favorites from Karen's solo album.
Here's another one from Karen's solo album that I just love:
You're close enough to touch again Where you should be I'd love to THINK what your smile is leading to
And I THINK you know that missing you Took all my time
- Remember When Lovin' Took All Night
