I gave this song 5 stars, but only for the 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' part.
The 'Casa Rosada' is done well by the choir and is the lead in to 'Don't Cry For Me'. I just don't really care for it all that much. I fast forward my way through this part about 3 out of every 10 times I listen to it. It's not that it's not good...it's just in the way of Karen! and her BEAUTIFUL read of 'Don't Cry For Me'. Karen lets some of her heart show through when she is singing this song. Her reading is very in touch and intimate.

I am not much into the play Evita but as for the song DCFMA, I think Karen did a superb job. The live part from the play, in the beginning, could have been eliminated cause Karen's voice with this song is all that it needed.

The first part goes on just a bit much...it's just that i just like to hear Karen....how beautifully she sings! Many many hugs to you Karen!!!! You are still amazing!

5-Stars
This one is a classic all the way.
From the very beginning the listener is in for a real treat. I'm one of the few who does enjoy the operatic opening. Of course I much prefer when Karen comes in with her most chilling vocal performance. But I love the opening because it sets the mood. It helps to turn this into - not just a song - but an event.
Again the master Peter Knight gave us an outstanding arrangement and orchestration which leads this song out of the world.
Carpenters, easily, have the finest recorded version of this song. They outshine other recordings by a longshot. Nobody else even comes close to capturing the essence of this song as Carpenters do.

2 Stars.
Sorry. I don't like this song. The intro part is too long.
