Four Stars
I love this song tremendously. It's a beautiful song and Karen does an excellent job on the vocals as always. Certainly this is a classic around the world. This is one of the Carpenters' best known songs.
As much as I love it, though, I give it four stars. the song is great - but not quite on the same level as "This Masquerade" or "I Can't Make Music".

I thought this song to be a brilliant selection and such a wonderful way to introduce an "oldies" section on the Now and Then album. Of course, singing all those old songs, and feeling all those old feelings brings up the thoughts one had of "yesterday" when we were young and listening to the radio. Here's a song that is lovely in its musical content and arrangement - Karen is pleadingly singing it - it's filled with gorgeous harmonies, and to top it all off, such clever and enduring lyrics. A true gem through and through. "...when it gets to the part where he's breakin' her heart, it can really make me cry, just like before...it's Yesterday Once More.....shoobe do, lang lang......." 5 stars!!!!!

The simple truth The Carpenter's were and will always be an icon in American music. The vocals on Yesterday Once More are tremendous as is the musical score. In my opinion on Febuary 4th 1983 not only did the music industry lose one of their own, the world did as well. God be with you Karen Carpenter..........we miss you.

For me "Yesterday Once More" stands alone in the sense that it has a slightly different feel from the hits which came before it. It's more refined somehow. And how iconic, the line: "When I was young I'd listen to the radio"...right from the first full-bodied note she sings, you just know Karen's going to wow you once again. Cushioned by a classy oldies-inspired arrangement from Rich, you shouldn't have any difficulty understanding this song's unprecedented world-wide success. It helped to solidify the Carpenters name forever. 5 Stars. L

An absolutely stunning song that gives you those fuzzy warm goosebumps. Karen sings faultlessly beautiful as ever. 5 out of 5.
