Any one who said all Cs albums were repeated songs were very wrong. I always hated it when the Cs put in a bit of Rs plinkity plonkerty as it meant a song without Ks voice but now I think it just adds to the Cs "difference " and brilliance of an album adding a little bit more speciality. I actually never liked this track & It was the B-side to Goin 2 take some time over here too. Ken

Gave this a 4 star....songs with Karen are the best...but Richard is so extraordinarily brilliant when it comes to the piano...he really shines out ...

Four Stars
I love avant-garde jazz numbers and this one fits right in there. It's a great upbeat instrumental. but what really makes me give this one four stars is Karen's tasty drum work. she really was an outstanding drummer. She wasn't a rambunctious crash and thrash drummer - but an understated drummer with an excellent sense of timing and style.

I went in the middle on this one. It's got Richard's talent on it so I can't give up on it completely.

4 stars
Probably Richard's best instrumentals, along with Heather. It is fun and light and a nice showcase for Richard.

I agree with MadeInEngland, "Flat Baroque" is well placed on the album. It gives us fans a chance to re-group whilst listening to some 'fluff' before getting stuck into another breathtaking vocal from Karen.
Yes, this track is expertly performed, but I wonder whether it would have been included if Karen and Rich had had more time in the studio. I mean, Rich makes no secret of the fact that the majority of their albums (particularly the early ones) were rushed due to touring schedules, and you get the feeling that when looking for new material, they thought "I know, remember "Flat Baroque" that we used to play? Let's bung that on to fill the album out!". Maybe I'm totally wrong. That said, it is pleasant and totally inoffensive.
3 Stars. L
