Eve was written by Richard and John (Bettis) after being inspired by a TV movie of the same name. The result is a lush masterpiece of music and lyrics. Karen emotes every note with emotion, power and depth. A wonderful song.

Just like Ming I play "Eve" almost everytime I listen to the "Ticket To Ride" disc.
"Eve" is a wonderful dark and dramatic tune. I especially love the lyrics and Karen's reading is perfect note for note. What a gem this song is. It's the earliest example of the mournful dark songs which Carpenters became famous for in the years to come.
What's amazing about this song is that Karen was only 19 when she sang this song. She sang it with such soul and maturity. I can't think of any other singer that young who could sing with as much skill and competence as Karen did.

:-/Amazing song. Not only are the vocals crisp and bright, the notes just seem to carry the song to a different place. Special thanks to Rick Henry on this on, I requested to sheet music for this song and he was able to find it. Thanks again, Rick. 5 Stars......across the board! Steve in Cleveland Ohio

Great song and a fantastic job by Karen. I think she does so well on "Eve". She seems to be right into the song when she is singing it.

My No.1 favorite song from ALL the Carpenters songs. This is the song made me a die hard Carpenters fan. The song that made search about this voice, this group and their recording trend.

I know why you guys all love this song, but I'm not keen on the general feel of it, although it's clearly well performed. Can't really describe why it's not a favourite - I think it's a little too dark for my liking. But still one of the better tracks on "Offering". 3 Stars. L

I agree: a great song and I believe it has meaning and it depends on the listeners psychological profile. It actually makes me think of my girl friend and future wife. As so many of the Carpenters songs do. She finds it kind of confusing how I see my girl friend in so many of the songs they put together. I have to explain the songs to her and how I see her in many of them, but that is because like many people she listens to the beat and not so much to the lyrics. It is really amazing how I found the Carpenters. I repair old vintage tube amps and similar equipment and the first song that I played was "We've only just begun" I had intentions of selling the amplifier, but it has such a sweet sound I now have a pair of them that I listen to regularly. After that incident I got heavily involved in music and know the lyrics to most of the well known Carpenter songs. I wonder what other gems I have yet to uncover. Crap! 30 YEARS without beautiful music in my life. What a waste of time. I could have been so much happier. But I am now. I have the music in my heart and the love of a woman in there too. Thank You Richard for your music. I am a Christian so I can't thank Karen because she is in Heaven. When I get there I will thank her too. Though I didn't know her I miss her none the less.
