Serious message, Roland. I have rescued cats for many years, trapping, spaying and neutering them on the street, putting many up for adoption, and fielding lots of questions from people desperate for help, and some, extremely grieved over losing beloved cats. I am sure MITAINE had a wonderful life with you, and she is still around you. They have often made themselves "evident" after death, both to me and many who have spoken with me. I have gone thru losing many myself, as their lifespan isn't as long as we wish it would be. I certainly know JUST HOW YOU FEEL, my friend. I've always had black tomcats, most of them named "Jones". Our last "Jones" died June 6, 2004 at the age of 14. He was my buddy. Gary and Shirley moved in just before Jones left us.

Hi Palma... Just had to say HI!! Can't wait to hear more on your thoughts on Karen. By the way, do you listen every holiday season to the Carpenters CHRISTMAS albums at all, and if so, what are your thoughts on those songs...The Christmas Song, Merry Christmas Darling, Ave Maria, Silent Night etc)?

Its hard to say in words Karen has the ability to spin pain into gold. I knew she was in pain yet she and Richard made some of the most beautiful music in spit of their pain. Karen just connected with me through her near perfect phenomenal voice, her drumming skills her personality and so much more. She kind touches me on a different level than any other artist John Lennon does the same thing for me they are truely unigue artists and I miss both of their contributions to music and my life (from what I know of them) I am comforted that I have their legacies to fall upon any time I need to reminice. Also especially in Karens case I have recieved many unforseen benifits like making alot of cyberfriends on this and other Carpenter sites most fans seem to understand my connection with Karen and some are as devoted as I am. Thats my story in a long nutshell Speaking of John Lennon I had to pull out my Cd's and listen to in tribute of the 25th anniversary of his death. I love the songs "Jealous Guy" and "Beautiful Boy". Its hard to pick my favorite between his beatle career and solo but those that you mention are beautiful songs lennon was also capable of conveying emotion in alot of his songs just like Karen and others do I am sure. Among my favs of his solo wise are Watching The Wheels, Just Like Starting Over Imagine...and so on. I often wonder why people celebrate the anniversary of a tragic even like Lennons death but at least they are remembering him and celebrating his life so thats OK

"Dave, he worked on Navy Ships. Travelled all over the world."
I've never been on any ships, but I have started up power plants. Yeah, the traveling is glamorous at first, but I was in this groove where I was spending six months at a time on the road, which clashed with my desire to take care of my mother (who passed in April of this year) and be home with my family more.

Hi, so glad you made it to the party, Cameron. I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed being called a "songstress" in the early thread! In answer to your questions, I have the Carpenter Christmas album on right now, in the basement, and I especially love "Merry Christmas Darling." By the way, I think one of my very favorite songs they ever recorded was "I Can Dream, Can't I."

Another favorite album/albums of mine are AMY GRANT, BONEY ME, MARIAH CAREY and SANDI PATTY's Christmas albums. In case you don't know...Sandi is a famous Gospel/Christian singer, who has won 5 Grammys, and 39 Dove Awards(more than any other artist in Christian Contemporary history), and sold over 13 million copies. I got to see her in concert in Edmonton, Alberta in Oct 2004. That was a rare treat. She did her JESUS LLOVES ME medley in concert where she imitates her inspirations Barbra Streisand and Karen Carpenter, singing the songs the way she THOUGHT they would sing it...a hoot...but well done!! But an awesome singer, humble and funny lady...have you heard of her...she is sooo awesome!!

PS...Hi GANG...it's my first time here too...
