I want to understand a bit better what you alluded to in your thread explanation of how you never much thought about the music of the Carpenters, until your own personal life became reflected in their words, and then you felt a connection confirmed by your Kennedy Space launch. Can you tell us all a bit more about what all that meant? Well, I'm not an astronaut. Nor do I work for NASA. But, because of a desire to help fix things, I became "involved" with the Columbia Accident Investigation Board after going to Washington on June 12, 2003, and sitting in on what was to be the last public hearing of the board. I began communicating with one of the board members, who's a really great friend, and actually had a few of my suggestions be acted upon. In March 2004, I posted a missive on NASAWatch.com, which caught the attention of then-Administrator Sean O'Keefe. That began a relationship with him and the agency which continues even today. How Karen fits into this, my life's "great adventure", is still beyond me. I stumbled upon Rick's place when Karen began appearing in my dream world at the end of May 2004.

I used to date a very tall field service engineer (I'm 5 feet, he was 6 feet 5inches) and these guys are very deep. By the way, gang, I see not everyone posts their picture...how fair is THAT? (Watch out for the quiet ones, like ENIGMA...deeper than field engineers, I believe, from the tone of his thread postings...see I have been paying attention.)

I am 50, 6'4" 205 lbs, and a field service engineer in the field of industrial instrumentation and controls...I guess I should be going (not really)! I'm a dry humorist too.

Dave you've gotta tell Palma about the astronauts wake up song. I have it on good authority, former astronaut William "Reads" Readdy that "Top Of The World" has been a favorite wake-up song in NASA for many, many years.

Oh, Rick, loved the Alfred E. Newman, and right now I'm listening to your special recorded message to me, only it will take awhile to hear it all because it keeps "buffering": that's French for cheap dial-up service, but I am sure it will all play eventually! Thank you. Just heard it all now, didn't take that long. Very cool to hear your voice finally! Thank you for finding me, and introducing me to all your friends. You have no idea how much I am enjoying this party...being not that computer savvy, I feel so impressed with myself for scrolling and following directions!!

So Dave, if you're ever near JFK again, and don't mind short girls.... Hey, I get out to the Island every once in a while. Last January I went twice, the first time was to Astoria, way at the East River end of Ditmars, and the second time was to JFK to repair some instrumentation for American Airlines. Short girls need love too, y'know.
