This round finds America's "A Horse With No Name" going up against Bread's "Everything I Own".
"A Horse With No Name" by America - this song reached #1 on March 25, 1972 and stayed there for three weeks. The song was also certified Gold for selling more than a million copies.
"Everything I Own" by Bread - This song reached #5 in March 1972. According to the book 1000 UK #1 Hits by Jon Kutner and Spencer Leigh, at his father's funeral, a friend took David Gates aside and said, "Your dad was so proud of what you were doing." David agreed by replying, "My success would have been so special to him as he was my greatest influence. So I decided to write and record Everything I Own about him. If you listen to the words, 'You sheltered me from harm, kept me warm, gave my life to me, set me free,' it says it all."
Which one is your favorite?

A Horse With No Name is a fun, quirky song, but I went with Bread's Everything I Own.

I went with America's "A Horse With No Name". I love Bread's "Everything I Own" - and I appreciate the meaningful lyric. Though America's "A Horse With No Name" is such a solid number both musically and lyrically. I really enjoy the visualistic lyrics. I also enjoy the soulful vocal performance and the song's overall laid back Southern California feel.

I voted for Bread with Everything I Own. I do like some of America's music but Bread has always been a favorite group of mine and their songs were so meaningful.
I like A Horse With No Name but still prefer EIO.

I went with Everything I own also, even tho truly like the other too. Thanks Rick for giving us the history. Especially Ev.I Own, brings a lump in my throat just thinking of what a great inspiration Gates' dad was to him.

This round was won by Bread's "Everything I Own" - this song will go into our Semi-Finals Round Four.
