It's the late 70's and dance clubs are pumping out the disco tunes. Both Gloria Gaynor and Alicia Bridges are at the top of the dance charts with all-time disco anthems. Which one is your favorite? "I Love The Nightlife" by singer/songwriter Alicia Bridges reaches #5 in September 1978 and remains in the Top 100 for an astounding 7 1/2 months and also sells over a million copies.
The New Jersey born Gloria Gaynor charts at #1 for three weeks on March 10, March 17 and April 7 in 1979. The song is one of the biggest hits of '79 selling over two million copies.

Both are fun dance tunes. I have seen Gloria Gaynor on T.J. Lubinsky's PBS series on music of past decades, and I must say I am impressed by Gloria Gaynor's graciousness and ability to sound great after all these years. My vote goes to "I Will Survive." Loved her rendition of "Never Can Say Goodbye" also.

Alicia Bridges had a really neat manner of singing. She makes me all want to "...love the nightlife and want to boogie." But, Gloria Gaynor had a great voice which was broader than Alicia Bridges's. I think that Gloria Gaynor was like Donna Summer in that you could have plunked her down in any era and she would have done well because she had a nice range to her voice.
So, I figure Gloria Gaynor. But, I am rather young, eh? I was not "there" for either singer, so y'all feel free to disagree with me.

I do agree by all means that Gloria Gaynor is by far the better singer. As far as vocal ability Gaynor is definitely up there with the likes of the fantastic Donna Summer.

I am neither a fan of disco nor can I say I really like either song but if I had to choose I went with I Love The Nightlife. Sorry just not a big disco fan.

I love both songs...but G. Gaynor got my vote..it is one of my all-time fave songs ever! I must say it is a great pick-me-up song..(as in, cheer-me-up songs) I never was ever near a disco, but still love that music, and I recall roller skating to great 70's tunes like this one.

I went with I Will Survive. This was a favorite of a friend who passed away in 1994.
