One of the very best groups of the 70's was Paul McCartney and Wings. Like the Carpenters and Elton John McCartney and Wings made non-stop hits throughout most of the 70's.
What are some of your favorite McCartney and Wings songs?
I am especially fond of the 1974/75 hit "Junior's Farm", it has a good rhythm to it and just a good song. I also love the classic "Live And Let Die". And another favorite is "Hi, Hi, Hi". A lesser favorite of mine - but still a favorite is 1979's "Arrow Through Me".

I love Wings!!! One of my all-time favourite albums is "Band On The Run" it has no waste, I specially love "Mamunia", "Bluebird" (I wonder how could this song had sounded on Karen's voice), "Let Me Roll It", in fact i love the whole album. I also love: "With a little luck" "Another day" (I'm not sure if this is Paul solo) "Let 'em In" "Mull of Kintyre" Great memories Rick!!! regards Jorge

Of course I love Paul McCartney and the Wings paul was still able to create some great music even if it was missing that something it had when he was with the Beatles. To pick best songs from such a great repetoire is hard but somew from Pauls Wings days include Silly Love Songs (love the bassline in this one) With A Little Luck (reminds me alot of Pressure by Billy Joel again great bassline) Goodnight Tonight. Band On The Run, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, Live and Let Die Getting Closer... and most everything else.

Surprisingly I'm not a big Beatles fan though. Love John Lenno, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, one of my favorite movies is a musical with nothing but Beatles music in it, and I love versions of their songs that other people sang (Peter Frampton, Olivia Newton-John, Bee Gees, etc) I just don't like the Beatles. Even though I do like the whole hippie 'Peace, Love, Soul' concept. All those groovy colors. Just don't like the Beatles. Weird.

I love "Mull of Kintyre" - one of my mothers favourites (she's really in to bagpipes in general) - since my childhood..

I love "Mull of Kintyre" - one of my mothers favourites (she's really in to bagpipes in general) - since my childhood.. "Mull Of Kintyre" is an unusual song for McCartney. The Mull of Kintyre is actually a place in Scotland, it's a part of the long peninsula of Kintyre. The song praises the beauty of the area. The bagpipe really adds an eerie sound to the song. McCartney has said, "I certainly loved Scotland enough, so I came up with a song about where we were living; an area called Mull of Kintyre. It was a love song really, about how I enjoyed being there and imagining I was traveling away and wanting to get back there." The song was hugely popular around the world. It reached #1 in the UK, Austria, Australia, Switzerland, Denmark and Germany. It also reached #2 in Norway and #14 in Sweden. It wasn't as popular in the good old U.S. reaching only #33. In Japan the song barely squeaked in at #69. The b-side is a song called "Girl's School", which, surprisingly I liked better than the A-side.

I like the album "Red Rose Speedway" a lot. I remember one boat trip in the summer of '73 when the medley of songs at the end of the album kept playing in my head - still does if I try a little. "Oh lazy dynami-i-ite...". And "My Love" is just so great, why not the strange tribute to Pink Floyd "Loop". Of course he didn't play anything from this album in 2004 when I finally got to see him live...nor from "Ram" which is another big favorite of mine, he's got so much repertoire to cover!

Go onto you tube and check out the Band on the Run wings track which just has the raw vocal mix to Band on the run - on you tube type - "band on the run acapella"
the dude is called instrumentalsandmore - he has all the raw mixes of tracks - but the band on the run with just vocals is pretty cool - check it out -
McCartney's great albums of the 70s are Ram and Back to the Egg
