I just read Dave's post in the topic "always Liked Bread". He mentioned that Randy Vanwarmer passed away in 2004. what a shame. I really liked several of his songs. Ironically I don't care for his big hit "Just when I Needed You Most". But he had several others I thought were excellent such as "Your Light", "Doesn't Matter Anymore" and the power pop tune "Suzi". Vanwarmer's musical output was varied mixing in mournful ballads with upbeat dance tunes and new wave tinged songs. Randy Vanwarmer was only 48 when he passed away on January 12, 2004 of complications from leukemia.

Sad to hear about Randy's passing. I really started to listen to the radio around 1977. "Just when I needed you most" was one of those songs I remember fondly.

Thanks!!

I decided to post further information on Randy Vanwarmer since Heartwaves was asking about him in the "Always Liked Bread" thread.
He was born Randall Van Wormer on March 30, 1955 in Indian Hills, Colorado. Died January 12, 2004 of complications from leukemia. He was a singer/songwriter/guitarist. He charted two country music hits in 1988, "I will Hold You" and "Where The Rocky Mountains Touch The Sun".
Vanwarmer wrote the songs "I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes" recorded by the Oakridge Boys and "I'm In a Hurry (And Don't Know Why)" recorded by Alabama.
His pop hits include: 1979: Just When I Needed You Most #4 1980 Whatever You Decide #77 1981 Suzi #55
"Suzi", which was the name of his wife, received moderate radio airplay in 1981.

I just got ahold of 3 more songs of Randy's -- "Call Me" "The One Who Loves You" & "Your Light".......love the songs and love his voice!!! I think I like these songs over his big radio hit, "Just when I needed you Most."
Randy has such a soft, gentle voice -- it's soooo soothing!! To me, he sounds alot like Christopher Cross, don't you think?
Does anyone remember Christopher Cross?....another voice that melts me! He sang the songs, "Sailing" "Think of Laura" "Ride like the Wind" "Swept Away" "Never be the Same" "Arther's Theme (Best that you can Do)" "Greatest American Hero"
Thanks for the info on Randy Vanwarmer, Rick.....it's good to know more about this man whom we've sadly lost.....but our memories of him (& his songs) will keep him alive in our hearts!

Ooops! Actually, I think I made a mistake. I don't believe it was Christopher Cross who sang "Greatest American Hero".... was it? I think it was someone like Joey Scarbury???
