Hi Beth, the disc which is postioned next to the "An Old Fashioned Christmas" album is "More Offerings" - the picture you see is actually a picture from the inside, which I like better than the one they used for the cover. The other disc which is to the right of "Live In Japan" disc is a homemade CD I made of Karen's unreleased songs. since I took that picture I changed the cover on it.

Hi all, just wanted to let you know our very own Carpenters Online member Dave has sent me a picture of his wedding to his wife Karen. It's a wonderfully beautiful picture. A must see. I'm not sure of the date, but I think it was in 1975?

November 24, 1979, Rick. Let's see, 10 months and one week before... Thanks for posting the picture. Not too bad for that little camera.

Hi everybody...
I just posted a picture I took of my good friend Manon while she was sleeping, yesterday.
She's a beautiful Karen Carpenter look-alike.
I posted another one with her eyes open, but, it doesn't show up..., I don't understand...[glow=red,2,300][/glow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow][shadow=red,left,300]Roland C.[/shadow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow]

Try to repost it, Roland. IMHO, Manon is very close to being a twin! Is she similar in physical size (5'4") and in her mid-20s? Everyone has an identical twin out there somewhere. I met mine at a power plant in Bellingham, Mass.

Hi Dave...
Manon is 5'7'' 135lbs. 42 years old. French Canadian(and single).
I will send the other to Rick..., he will arrange something.
She doesn't always look like Karen..., I make her move in certain ways and then take a picture.
She likes to be compare to Karen and is now a very good fan(but, she doesn't speak english.)[glow=red,2,300][/glow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow][shadow=red,left,300]Roland C.[/shadow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow]

Fascinating, Roland. I had wondered how Karen would have looked "today", and it's amazing that Manon would retain Karen's twenties appearance into her 40's. I guess this is how Karen would have looked if she'd let nature take its course. At 5'7", she's as tall as my sister. Truly fascinating. Now the humorous part... She's single?!!! What's up with that? So, she's French Canadian. I'm Slovak-American, but I don't speak French either. Because my parents didn't teach me or my sister the language, neither of us understands Slovak. I laugh when I say that I understand more Spanish than Slovak, but then again I understand more Klingon than Slovak! A trivial point: The members of ABBA couldn't speak English either.

Dave..., funny Dave...
Single? It's just that I feel like matching her sometimes...
By the way... I'm not that sure that beautiful Karen would have still look young in her 40's... I mean, sometimes, at 31/32, she looked already 70.
But, to me, she was still the most beautiful woman who ever lived... I guess I'm to much in love with Karen...[glow=red,2,300][/glow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow][shadow=red,left,300]Roland C.[/shadow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow]

I've posted picture #2 of Manon with her eyes open. Thanks Roland for the pictures. Dave..., funny Dave...

If she were to have lived than obviously her illness would not have been as bad as it was or as hard on her body and she would have recovered and regained her youthful healthy good looks.

"If only..." Well, if Karen's heart hadn't given out (or up) she would have added some weight to her frame, and with the years, yeah, she still would've looked nice. Even at age 54. Roland, how do you pronounce Manon? Us Anglophones, and especially us Pittsburghers, would say it "Man-on", which is probably mondo incorrect! So, enlighten us, if you'd be so kind. And welcome her to the board. Now, some sci-fi philosophy on sleeping... The TV show "Babylon 5" featured a relationship between John Sheridan, a human, and Delenn, the Minbari ambassador. As time went by, the relationship grew deeper, and one night Delenn told John that she would watch him as he slept. Minbari women do this because a person's true self reveals itself while they are sleeping. Pushing the images of Homer Simpson aside, your statement that Manon doesn't always resemble Karen reminded me of that B5 statement. If you two get along, and want to be together, and can be together, go for it! Time is too short, and tomorrow is promised to no one. Just for grins, read my story to her, and tell me what her reaction is. I'm curious...

I added a picture taken on STS-107, Columbia's final mission. It's titled "Shuttle view", but it just as easily could be "Top Of The World". I set it as wallpaper on my screen, and if viewed on a large enough screen you will feel weightless! Enjoy! It was Slide 14 on a memorial disc sent to me by NASA.

About the pronunciation of Manon in french..., Dave...
There's not really a way to pronounce it in english..., Man-On is Ok..., we don't make a resonance with the letter N (in that case) in french.
So, pronounce it like you want, it's Ok...
Keep on with your happy/humoured personality..., we all need it, I think.[glow=red,2,300][/glow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow][shadow=red,left,300]Roland C.[/shadow][shadow=red,left,300] [/shadow]

Thanks, Roland. We've been together for 27 years now, and survived a two-year separation 9 years ago, that was all my fault. But she really loves me, and we'll go the distance now together, just like I wrote in my story. And she is still beautiful. I just got old for the both of us...heh, heh! I had to look up the translation of "sosie" to satisfy my curiosity. Translated to "double", but in this context it means "twin". And she certainly is that. I am familiar with lots of French words, like Renault, Citroen, Michelin, croissants, mayonnaise, and "parlay". I do indeed to try to keep my mood light and humorous. Life's too darned short to be grouchy...
