I had the great pleasure as a young man of attending a live performance by Richard and Karen on a cold, blustery day in Chicago at the rebuilt McCormick Place' Arie Crown Theater in the mid-1970's. The concert was the second of two acts, the first act being Comedian George Goebel. Does anyone have a recording of that concert, a copy of the program or at least know the date of this concert?

Hi dgfan... Welcome to The Carpenters Online!
The concert you're talking about was in 1976, Carpenters performed at the Arie Crown Theater for three nights from July 31 to August 1st.
George Gobel was the opening act to the headlining Carpenters. David Brenner opened for Carpenters during their 1977 concert series.
There are several bootleg recordings of their concerts floating around - but I've never seen the Arie Crown Theater concerts anywhere.
