Did you know... That Richard wore coke bottle glasses? But, that he wore contacts in public. That Karen played the bass on two songs from one of their later albums? I cannot remember which album, though! It was Offering / Ticket To Ride.

Did you know that "Don't cry for me, Argentina" from the album "Passage" was removed when this album was released here in Buenos Aires, Argentina?. By that time, our country was under a Militar Government and that song was censured and cut as any reference to Peron or Eva Peron in any way. I had no idea until many years later, when I bought the cd in New York, that "Don't cry ..." was included in "Passage".

Pat, That is an interesting action taken. Pretty picky of the government to search even music albums for 'offensive' material. I'm happy you even got the album at all. I think it would have been easier to just ban the album altogether. This 'editing' reminds me of a question I had concerning Carpenters early concerts. For a while (I don't know where or for how long it was done) Karen would leave out the phrase "Before the rising sun" in 'We've Only Just Begun'. She would sing 'oo' then "we fly" ... so it sounded like this "...oo oo oo oo oo oo we fly, so many roads to choose..." Does anyone know why the words were dropped for a while?

Hello, This may not be an important thing for some, but for me it has been a long search. I seem to be having some difficulty finding a copy of the movie "The Karen Carpenter Story". It was quite a hit. so I am confused as to why the secrecy? I believe that Cynthia Gibb played the title role? It may not be as good as I remember, but I would like to see for myself. Alexandra

Alexandra Hello Alexandra! Yes, you are correct in that Cynthia Gibb played 'Karen' in "The Karen Carpenter Story". I agree that it is hard to find Carpenters things. E-bay and Amazon are good sources usually. Good luck on your search.
