Hey, I just found this site today! I have loved the Carperters for years and just recently started getting back to my interest in them. I guess I'm "coming out of the closet" as a Carperters fan!
I'm sure you all know that distinct feeling that there are only certain people you can share your love of the Carperters with! Well, I'm no longer afraid of being a Carperters crazo! I don't care who knows it! I'm going to leave my fear behind and step into the light of Karen's dazzling smile. And yes, I am one of those people who will create a scene at a party or otherwise viciously attack anyone who has the nerve to tell a Karen Carpenter joke within five feet of me!
I hope to hear from others on the site! thanks, Craig

Hello Craig, I'm a lot like you in that I've always been a Carpenter fan but have had a real intense interest for the past two years or so, and have benefitted greatly from this great site for several months. Reflecting on the applications ofthe lyrics, hearing the beauty of Karen's enchanting voice and appreciating the overall genius of the work has helped make me a better person. I have become quite open and opportunistic when it comes to talking about my love of Carpenters and almost invariably find people at least somewhat appreciative of them and have uncovered quite a few fans. Well, we'll look forward to communicating with you here. Be sure to check out the info./work on Palma- a great talent! O.E.

Dear ps11932 (alias O.E.), Thanks for your kind response to my recent hello. I can't help but notice you are a little reticent about sharing details of yourself online (based on your not listing your name, sex, etc. on your bio.) That's interesting for online where people generally seem willing to share their most personal info with total strangers! You are probably very smart to be cautious.
Anyway, thanks again for the reply and will look for your posts on the site.
Craig

Hey Craig, What's up? Good to talk to you again. Thanks- you kind of jogged my memory that I wanted to update the profile some so I took care of that just now. (I'm kind of "green" to the online world and I'm still not really sure what some of the items listed are.) Are you enjoying the word games that Rick has put on the site lately? Really good for helping me think and run through, sort of, the checklist of songs. There is a lot to learn from some of the "veteran" fans with their great insights! Well, have yourself a good evening/day or whtever it is and I'll look for you later! O.E.

Hi Craig... A big welcome to you! Happy to have you on board The Carpenters Online. I, too, was a Carpenters closet fan. With all of us finally letting the world know that Carpenters are "cool" I think more will not be afraid to say they love their music.
I was at a gathering when someone made a joke about Karen. My response to that was simply, "that was pretty immature".
