A woodworker is a person who takes something raw and natural, like wood, and turns it into something beautiful and useful. The Carpenters really lived up to their name, as they embodied this spirit. They took their great raw natural talents, refined them through hard work, gave them life through their unique personality, and created a magical and beautiful mosaic of sound that has become a useful part in our lives. Useful and meaningful because it helps us to laugh, cry, love, and sing. It helps us remember the good times behind us as well as ahead of us. It can steep us in deep meloncholy or raise us to the top of the world. In essence, it makes us feel alive. That is the great gift that KC & RC left us, and I'm grateful everyday for it. This is a very important part in the soundtrack of our lives, and I am delighted and honored to be able to share my thoughts and feelings with you all. You have a friend in Sidradel, and I sincerely thank you for making me feel so welcome. May we all live up to the standard of the woodworker and fill the world with beauty and meaning.

I've been reading several of the topics and replies from various members. I am quite impressed with the respect given to one another and all the great input on my favorite group of all time. I can remember as a teenager back in the early 70s sitting on my old record player cabinet singing away for hours along with the Carpenters. I will never forget those memories. It is great to know that there are others with the same enthusiasm for Karen and Richard's music as I have. I hope to visit more often now that I have joined your fantastic forum. Thanks!

^^ :(Welcome sidradel and carp1ncmor...! good to meet up with new folks! It really is a unique and fun and interesting thing to be a part of. Most folks world over loved the Carps and still do and new fans come around all the time. Many don't understand though, because they don't remember K. and R. as we do, and just look at them as part of the past. For the most part though, most do understand. And surely, all of us here at this site understand...we know great music and the great people known as the Carps and those they worked with. anyway, glad to have 'ya

Thanks alot Roland, Rob, and Smoothie for the kind words and well wishes. I'm so excited that you guys took time to write to me. I consider it a great honor. I've read your posts and hold all of you in high regard. Thanks to Rob for your sincerity. I know my meager words can't do proper justice in conveying what the Carpenters mean to us all, but I'm happy to be able to inspire these beautiful feelings in you just like you guys uplift and inspire me. Thanks again and please keep in touch. Your Friend, Sid.
