" Talking to myself and feeling old..." That was the line of one of the Carpenters songs and stuck with me when I watched " The Karen Carpenter Story." in grade eight (1993). I remember it like it was yesterday. The music, the woman playing Karen and the overall saddness I felt at the end of the movie when I found out that she had not made a recovery. Karen and Richard Carpenter. Wow... A brother and sister that actually got along and worked together, to create some of the most highly respected pop love songs of their time, and indeed all time. Karen with her instantly recongizable voice and playing the drums, and Richard running the show and helping to write some of the massive hits they shared. Karen though her music has become a great friend to all of her fan's and follower's, she was and is able to get into your heart and, once inside she's there for forever. Karen was there for me when I was in the pits of despair and very depressed, and if it was not for her voice... Well let's say that I would not be sitting her writing this letter to you all. I still find it hard to believe that Karen left us 20 years ago. I guess it's due to the fact that her vocals are so rich, warm and inviting. She was a true talent and I will always will be a fan.
