I was just browsing thru Ebay and i saw a sheet music by the Carpenters for "You and me against the world" It looked like an original one, had a picture from Horizon session on it(the one also used on poster where they are smiling) and publishers logo on it etc. It looked genuine. So did they record this song but decided not to release it in the last minute or what? It is not released as far as I know. Do any of you have some info on this?

One of the fan club newsletter gave the information that it was a print error(another Richard Carpenter lie?). I don't know...

Hi Fredrico I find it strange that the fan club comments on a typingerror like this. I suspect it was recorded for Horizon but pulled off the album in the last minute but then stuff like sheet music had already been prepared and maybe even produced. Any thoughts on this anyone? Christian

I insist that Richard keep hide some good materials for better times. Remember the "discovery" of Trying to Get the Feeling Again, been this song much better than others in the album Horizon and having this album only just 9 songs (Aurora and Eventide are the same song).

There are several unreleased songs probably more than we are aware of.
In 1978 around the time K&R were recording Christmas Portrait there were enough songs recorded for an album. Most of these songs have been released by now. But if they would have released a studio album in 78-79 it most likely would have included: Thank You For The Music When I Fall In Love Slow Dance Where Do I Go From Here Little Girl Blue Dancing In The Street I Believe You Honolulu City Lights Leave Yesterday Behind Look To Your Dreams
*Notes: Dancing In The Streets is a complete version which has not been released yet, it's not the one that is on As Time Goes By. Thank You For The Music is a studio version, not the live version which is floating around on download sites like kazaa and WinMX.

I found in the fan club newsletter #51 from jan. 1977 this: Q. Did you ever record the song "You and Me Against the World?". A. No.
And in the newsletter #58 from march 1978 this: Q. Did the Carpenters ever record "You And Me Against The World"?. I saw the sheet music with Karen & Richard's picture on the cover, printed underneath was "As recorded by the Carpenters on A&M records". A. Carpenters have never recorded "You And Me Against the World" and had nothing to do with their picture on the cover. It was an error made by the publishers.
What a strange! Why didn't Richard react? Christian, it's better no pursue, die hard fans on the way!! ;D

I just discovered that YAMATW is a Paul Williams song. The Carpenters recorded 7 songs of Paul Williams, then, why not this one ? 1.We've only just begun 2.I Kept On Loving You 3.Ordinary Fool 4.Rainbow Connection 5.Let Me Be The One 6.Rainy Days And Mondays 7.I Won't Last A Day Without You Note: An Old Fashioned Love Song was performed in a tv program, I think.

A song with a similar title, "In The Old Fashioned Way", was performed with John Davidson from one of their television specials.

this could have been a mistake by the publishers seeing that the Carpenters recorded so many Paul williams songs. a lot of people for some reason think it was the Carpenters who recorded it. Helen Reddy reached the top 20 with it in summer 1974 - so 75 is about the time the sheet music would have been released.

l strongly believe the carpenters did in fact record you and me. Think about it. Its a very strong paul williams song. I think richard has this song hidden away with many others in the vaults.when karen and richard recorded this song its final result, was not a pleasing one.to them. So they passed this one by. Shortlyafter it must have been presented to helen reddy to record. Unfortunately, karen and richards loss. just my thought carlo
