Being one who has seen and met Beatles and Elvis impersonators, and here in Laughlin, NV we have Neil Diamond-impersonator acts, in our more major Las Vegas we have Rat Pack tributes, what I'm dying to see is a Carpenters tribute act where a woman impersonates Karen and follows her every move. I know Karen has been gone for 21 years but someone out there I'm sure lives by carrying on her legacy by being "her" on stage.
I've only seen four major recording artists. The Platters in 1988 at the L.A. County Fair, Joan Baez, Weird Al Yankovic and Badfinger's Joey Molland (whom I met and talked to backstage- a group I've been listening to since birth.) Until I die and go to heaven, I would never get to see Karen in person at all, but the next best thing would be to see an impersonation act.
Being in the casino biz for years and off and on in the entertainment field, I support such acts and give them my full blessing.

Hi Mariah, there are actually several Carpenters tribute bands/artists. Probably the most popular is Carpenters Magic lead by Jenny Sinclair. Here's a link to her website: www.carpenterstribute.com/

Rick, I checked out the website you posted. Jenny Sinclair does an excellent job of imitating Karen. Of course, Karen added an extra something that nobody can recreate. All in all, I think the tribute band is fitting tribute to Karen and Richard.

Hi Rob, Jenny does do a really good job impersonating Karen. Of course Karen does have that extra something and marvelous depth of voice that nobody else will ever be able to quite equal.

I kind of have the motto ain't nothing like the real thing and I do not go to see tribute bands as such. It is fun to watch them and some are really good but always pale in comparison to the real thing. Rick that Carpenters tribute band is pretty good I have yet to see this band perform and it would be interesting to see how true they are to the way the actual Carpenters were dispite my general views on tribute bands. Rob I agree with you there will never be anyone who will duplicate what Karen adds to a song you cannot duplicate a persons soul and Karen put her soul into all the songs she sang she was truely unique.

I knew a singer in Arizona her name is Sue Kent ( her new group is Sue Kent & Jazz It Up ) and she told me in the 70's she was a Karen Carpenter impersonator one time when she had a gig at the Borders Cafe where I worked( when I could still do that, I really miss that job) Sue sang ' Close To You' wow I'm picky so it takes alot to get me to say that it sounded great, but she sure did come close to Karens voice, that was real coooooool but no matter how close people get to Karens voice, its still not Karen, their is just something special about Karen that no one but Karen could ever reach but I did enjoyed it it was nice to think of Karen at work that night made my day

Roland, your friend is absolutely beautiful and in that one picture (which is shown below she truly does look the spitting image of Karen. It's like she is her. It's amazing. Please Roland send me the other picture to my email address carponline@rock.com I can fix it so it can be downloaded on to the picture gallery. thanks, what a treat.

;D I've checked out Jenny's site once before long time ago...at that time she sent me an e-mail in reply to my comment on how impressed I was (am) with her singing. At that time, she had not met Richard before. It blows me away that she finally did get to meet him as she was invited to sing at the Carp. Performing Arts Center. She can truly sing amazingly much like Karen...but as has been said she's not Karen and she realizes it. It is interesting to see all those photos Jenny had taken when she met Richard. What a great honor for her. He, no doubt, is also impressed with her tribute.

I saw a Tribute To The Carpenters in 1992 and 1994, performed by Wendy Roberts and Phil Aldridge. I am afraid that the two have split now but understand that they have formed to separate Tribute bands. The original tribute is featured on my website for those that are interested www.geocities.com/brockstephenj/
