I love the underwear pic. It's one of my most favorite pictures of Karen. My favorite picture of her though is from 1973, it's a black and white head shot.

In celebration of the success of "Gold: 35th Anniversary Edition", I replaced the old wallpaper on this forum with an image of the new disc cover. This should be a bit more uplifting. I like it!

Hey All, Well I took a good look at it and Karen looks very pretty. I am guessing that pic was taken either in 1968-1969...Her eyebrows match that era as well as her hair and hair length. That is just my guess.

I like the new wall paper. I thought the front picture of Karen was in a bikini, not underwear. Oh well... I guess I am not that observant.
Rick, post any picture you like. It is your wonderful website. We are along for the ride...

Hi there, I haven't posted too much on here and hope to more in the future but I have to comment on the picture. At first I was merely surprised as it's not a picture you are used to seeing Karen in but as far as offensive I wouldn't say that at all. Karen was the fun type. I don't think she ever really got to have as much fun as she really could have either so seeing her smiling looking into the camera just convinces me more that Karen was such a good spirited person and had a good sense of humor, etc. too. No problems this way!! Love to see all kinds of pics of karen.

hi Rick..indeed...I think she was outgoing and liked people and once she got out from behind the drums, she became really fun with her music ....she seemed to thrive on the attention and really enjoyed her career.

I`m not hinting at anything, but why would Richard take a picture of his sister in her underwear and bra??? I have a younger sister,Kim,and just the thought of even seeing her in her underwear is an experience that grosses me out,let alone to photograph it.Anyone share my wonderment of why Richard would supposedly take this pic of Karen?? You did say her took it,correct?

The best probability is that a friend took the photo.for fun.

That`s what I thought. That a friend took it for fun and stuff, but then someone earlier said that Richard took it.

You did say her took it,correct? Now, myself having been a camera nut in my younger years. I took all kinds of pictures of my younger sister. There was one picture I took of her coming out of her bedroom wearing only a towel. She got so mad at me when I took it, but later on we just laughed about it when we saw the picture. I don't think it's strange of Richard to take the picture of Karen. Anyway they were superstars in their day and they were regarded as being squeaky clean and goody four shoes. I'm sure they took the picture to make some sort of statement.

Yes I can understand that but I just found it weird.Who knows, maybe I`m looking at it the wrong way or something, but I just cringed when I read that Richard took it.I mean I guess my mind might be poisoned by people always claiming that they commited incest,but...I don`t know.It probably was innocently taken.I`m not accusing Richard of anything. But did anyone else feel uneasy when reading that Richard took it?

I think Richard was a chester the molester in my book.Weren`t there interviews were Richard was saying Karen was a very attracive woman?? It`s one thing to think she pretty, but attractive is another.Reasons I think Richard had a thing for Karen 1.)The underwear pic 2.)Richard married his cousin so he has commited incest. 3.)It was said he was jealous of her dates,as was she his. 4.) He was just a little too into his sister.

I don't agree with that suggestion at all. I think is down right wrong to think that the Carpenters were incestuous. They were just a brother and sister and that is that! He loved his sister. They were more than brother and sister, in the sense that musically, they were very similar...and also that they were professionally musical partners. Also, in many states and provinces it is not illegal or incestuous for cousins to marry. So that is their choice. Also he was not jealous of Karen's boyfriends. I don't think he took a great fancy to Tom Burris. But it was Karen who was jealous of Richard's girlfriends, in that she was very mothering and kind of bossy to him. Also, if Richard said Karen was beautiful. Well, she was. There really is nothing to read about that.
