Karen and Richard are finishing up their newest album. It is released as MADE IN AMERICA and their most expensive album to date. The art on the album cover features an airbrushed silhouette drawing of the duo and the inside picture of a white sweatered Karen with a beautiful reddish eagle on it is lovely while Richard wears a zesty yellowish shirt.
Their newest single Touch Me When We're Dancing hits #16 on the Pop charts and becomes a Number One Adult Contemporary hit single-their 15th Number One on that chart.
Other singles are released from that album, Beechwood 405789 and Those Good Old Dreams. Videos are made for Promo use all over the world.
Karen and Richard, among several other artists, perform live on a Japanese Telethon at the outside lot of the A&M Records. During their set, technical problems result which ends the performance. Although Karen looks good with tan and curly hair. Mom and Dad Carpenter are in attendance in the audience.
Richard and Karen also head to Brazil to promote their album and singles. Karen is filmed for the video of the song Touch Me When We're Dancing. Fans there, are so happy to see the singing Carpenters. They guest on radio shows and perform their songs all over.
Karen's relationship with her husband Thomas Burris comes to a seperation.
Karen is making plans to head to New York for therapy with famed therapist Steven Levenkron, who is the author of "The Best Little Girl In the World" and later on, the sequel, "Kessa."
