Thanks for the suggestion- I've never tried sending any requests to the radio station (I don't often listen except on "flashback weekends") but this might be the time to try it.

Amongst the Christmas songs today, I heard 'Rainy Days And Mondays'. I was passing a store called 'Rainy Day Books' at the time.

During the Christmas holiday (besides my playing Christmas music a lot) I heard "Merry Christmas, Darling" about 5 times or so, "White Christmas" once, "The Christmas song" once, I believe and the last one I heard was on Christmas Eve while waiting in the car for a friend, "Christ is Born".
That was unusual to hear the last one as I usually hear MCD mostly so that was really nice and of course, I sang it proudly while I waited.

I'm thrilled to hear that "Christ Is Born" was on the radio- in meaning as well as performance you can't do any better!
The report of having heard "Rainy Days & Mondays" prompts a comment on something else I have been considering: would there be interest and value in keeping a 2007 Carpenter log, for all the songs we hear on the radio, at malls, etc., or should the log be reserved for Christmas? I'd be willing to keep the log if there is interest. Please give your opinions pro or con here- it will be a group decision.

I'd be quite interested to know over a years time, and throughout the world, since we are so well represented all over, how many radio hits Carpenters have - during the hit and miss times we all have the radio on. I have shared with Richard that we actually kept this tally during Christmas, but have not heard back from him regarding this, yet. I wonder what he will think of the numbers....but I for one would be willing to contribute through the year to the log, if others want to as well. Thanks O.E. - great idea. Tim

The idea of keeping tally of all Carpenters songs played throughout the year sounds daunting. That said, I am still willing to participate ... and curious about the amount of songs and, in particular, which songs receive the most air play. If we vote that the year long count is in effect, then I will be more than happy to contribute to the log. Thanks for the idea, O.E. and for being willing to take on the possible task of being our official TallyMaster.

If we decide to tally the C's songs of the year we will need somewhere other than the Christmas portion of the forum to call 'home' for our log.
Also, I just heard "It's Going To Take Some Time This Time".

The Christmas music keeps coming ... although now down to a small trickle.
Today I heard "Jingle Bells"!

I'm happy to report hearing "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" again just a little while ago.
It is interesting to note the differences between radio stations' programing. Until finding the KC station I listen to now, I never heard "What Are You Doing ..." and some of the other songs that I reported on on our Christmas log played over the radio.

Merry Christmas Darling just played over the radio. This song is so original and such a classic that it doesn't doesn't get old.

Well, here it is Jan. 2, so perhaps it's safe to post a total of holiday hears- though C's Christmas music will never get an objection from any of us, I'm sure.
Merry Christmas Darling- 136, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas- 55, Home For The Holidays- 44, Christmas Song-41, Sleigh Ride-30, Do You Hear- 14, Christmas Waltz-14, I'll be Home-10, White Christmas- 4, Carol Of The Bells-2, Santa Claus-2, What Are You Doing New Year's Eve-2, Jingle Bells-2, Silent Night-1, Christ Is Born-1, First Snowfall-1
Thanks to everyone- this was a lot of fun! Regarding the possible 2007 log (3 reported hears already): maybe I'll put a thread on the main board explaining the proposal, and see if there is interest expressed and/or additional reports for a week or so and determine from there. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

Maybe it will catch the eye of some of our other readers and they will voice their opinions about 'logging' .
