I'll be Home for Christmas — 1x Merry Christmas Darling — 1x
Sonja Crawford of ABC News (network overnight news show broadcasted nationally) was unknowingly videotaped by a coworker singing along to "Merry Christmas Darling." When shown the clip, she said that whenever the Carpenters came on, she had to be in the "karaoke" mode.
From what i have heard this year on the car radio, I must say that Linda Ronstadt, Luther Vandross, Gloria Estefan, Mariah Carey and Johnny Mathis, all of whom I generally like as singers, really don't have the chops comparable to Karen's natural affinity for holiday music.

This is the count as of 1415 P.T., 22 December. There will probably be one more tally, around Sunday afternoon or so, then the final one on Tues., Dec. 26th. (Is that what we decided as the close of the log?)
Merry Christmas Darling- 121, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas- 51, Home For The Holidays- 38, Christmas Song-37, Sleigh Ride- 26, Do You Hear- 14, Christmas Waltz-13, I'll Be Home-8, Carol Of The Bells-3, Santa Claus-2, White Christmas-2
I agree with WJ7. Though I admit to being very prejudiced, no one (Mr. Cole may be a distant 2nd) comes close to having the voice I associate with Christmas music- Karen.

I have to agree that of anybody who has recorded Christmas music Karen Carpenter is by all means the finest of them all. Her voice is so well suited to Christmas music. If there ever was a Queen of Christmas Music - it would have to be Karen Carpenter. And of course Nat "King" Cole - would have to be the King.
I really like James Taylor's new Christmas album - this one is A+ and the new one by Diana Krall is outstanding. I've heard a few Christmas songs by Stevie Nicks - and though I do like Stevie Nicks - she just does not have the voice for Christmas songs - but I still like her otherwise.
Interesting sidenote on Stevie Nicks... I read an interview on her in which she was asked about her image of being a witch. She said she doesn't know where that came from and that she never identified herself as a witch. She said she is the furthest thing from that as she is a born again Christian. I found this quite interesting. Anyway she does an interesting recording of "Silent Night" - and though vocally I just don't think it's a good fit - I can not help but to believe that she was very sincere in singing these lyrics.
