Ya gotta love it. Went to see my mom today, who is in the hospital at the moment. As I leaned over to straighten the covers, or plant a kiss on her cheek or something, Karen Carpenter's sweet voice came over her hospital call system, and began singing that familiar intro - "...Christmas Cards have all been sent..." You know the rest. I turned up the volume, and put the speaker right up to mom's ear. She began to smile (she was pretty out of it), and she said - "You always did love the way she sang, didn't you?" It was a touching moment, for certain. And mom enjoyed hearing Karen sing Merry Christmas Darling, too as she smiled the whole time Karen was singing. So chalk one up for MCD today....it was the radio playing over the hospital's intercom system. Nice.... Tim That was a sweet story you told, Tim. I hope your mother isn't suffering. I will keep her in my prayers.

all for the thoughts for mom...she's going home today, feeling MUCH better.....great news. I heard Merry Christmas Darling yesterday one time. It's the only Carpenters tune I've heard this year so far, which is not unusual for Springfield! NOTE: I CAN'T believe I used the wrong lyrics for MCD in my post a few days ago - thanks for overlooking it - I have modified my post to read "GREETING CARDS have all been sent...." Oofah! Tim

As of approximately 1430 Pacific time on Dec. 7: Merry Christmas Darling- 86, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas- 39, Christmas Song- 31, Home For The Holidays- 20, Sleigh Ride- 15, Do You Hear- 9, Christmas Waltz- 7, I'll Be Home For Christmas- 4, White Christmas- 2, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town-2, Carol Of The Bells-2.
Thinking ahead: when should the log end? A day or so before Christmas so that the final tally is ready for everyone on Christmas, or on/just after Christmas, so as to include as many hears as possible? Whatever the majority thinks is best will be the rule.

The radio stations often stop playing Christmas music cold turkey on Christmas day ... so I think we should keep the log going until they stop their Christmas programing.

I'm in agreement with wj7 - our station runs Christmas music from Thanksgiving day and stops the day AFTER Christmas. So - let's go until then would be my vote.
