This past weekend, I noticed the local Wal Mart put out their older Christmas CD's in the Christmas decoration area. (there are a few newer Christmas CD's in the main music section of the store.) Flipping through them, I only noticed 1 Christmas Portrait in the entire rounder. It was in the middle and sure to be missed. I used my marketing skills and moved the CD front and center for better visibility! I will continue to do this in each store I enter...whether they like it or not!
p.s. I usually start listening to Chrismtas music in October, but it is still in the mid 80's here in Texas. I can't get into the mood, yet!

It snowed here in Edmonton a few days ago, but the snow is all gone. But I am listening to CHRISTMAS PORTRAIT by Carpenters. I can't wait to get Sandi Patty's new HOLIDAY release...supposed to be great!!! Anything Sandi does is great!! She has a gorgeous voice!!!

Even though we are still in the 80's, we started playing the Christmas Collection today. We were out and about doing some Christmas shopping, so it was appropriate, even thought the weather isn't cooperating.
p.s. Sandi's new project is nice, but too many songs revisited. I am still listening to it a lot, I would have just liked more new stuff.

'Tis the season. I'll be visiting some of my local music stores tomorrow. I plan on looking for Carpenters Christmas Cd's. Eventhough I own both "Christmas Portrait" and "Christmas Collection" on disc I still like to look for them in the store.
KOST FM has already started playing Christmas music. I'm looking forward to hearing "Merry Christmas Darling" and "Home For The Holidays" on the radio. Those are the songs I seem to hear the most on Southern California radio stations each Christmas.

I admit I don't have a Carpenter's christmas cd, yet....boo hoo!!!!! 8c( But, I am determined to get one this year, because I have always wanted to own a Christmas cd from the Carpenters!
I've been listening alot to Bryan Duncan & Nehosoul's new (& very VERY excellent) Christmas cd put out this year called, "A NehoSoul Christmas"......man, it's good!!!!!
But, as for the Carpenter's music....hearing Karen's smooth voice singing out those well-loved Christmas tunes, it's just gotta make Christmas that much more better!!! I've been missing out all these years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been watching some of the old Carpenter Christmas clips on road.ode, and I'm just loving that site!!!
Karen & Christmas.....it's in my destiny!!! (and yes....snow has arrived on this side of Canada!!!)

Hi Heartwaves...
You're from Canada. We have a few other Canadians on the forum - Enigma, Cam, and Roland.
If you're going to purchase a Carpenters Christmas disc you might as well make it "Christmas Collection". This is a double disc set which includes both Carpenters Christmas discs "Christmas Portrait" and "An Old Fashioned Christmas". That way you have all Carpenters Christmas music in this set.
I may be biased but I feel Carpenters Christmas music is the best Christmas music ever recorded. Karen Carpenter's voice was made to sing these lovely Christmas classics.

Thank you so very much for the tip on the best Carpenter's Christmas album to buy, Rick.....I really do appreciate that! "Christmas Collection" sounds like the best cd to have around this Christmas!!!
And yes, you're right.....Karen does have the most perfect voice for Christmas songs, because it's deep & smooth, & it warms you up...... just like the feel of the Christmas season! (& we Canadian's will need all the extra warmth we can get this Christmas!).
I can't wait to spend this Christmas with the Carpenters! Thanks Rick!

Yes, Christmas Collection is very good and it is very easy to find it in CD stores. I bought it last Christmas.

The local station switched to Christmas music a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving. It is not unusual to hear "Sleigh Ride" or "I'll be home for Christmas" on most days. I haven't heard "Merry Christmas Darling" on the radio yet this year, but I'm sure it is a matter of time. happy listening
