WHITNEY HOUSTON'S NEW CD « Thread Started on Sept 10, 2009, 9:27am »
I was wondering what those of you who may have had a chance to hear Whitney Houston's comeback CD "I Look To You", thought of it. I wasn't too thrilled at first. In fact, I still don't think it has the "wow" factor but the songs were well chosen for her comeback I thought.
Interestingly, she sings "A Song For You" on it. It starts out slow and then gets a bit faster. Of course, the Carpenters have it beat, especially with the sax solo which is why it makes it one of my favorite Carpenter's tunes but Whitney's version kind of grew on me a bit too.
It's worth a listen despite her poor performance recently promoting her CD. Too bad, though, cause she was a beautiful singer and had the world at one time but the drug addiction may have done things to her voice.
Share your feelings on the CD or go to Amazon and have a listen. Perhaps Rick will direct you to a good link to have a listen.

Before replying here I took an entire day to listen to every song on the album at least twice so I could have a feel for the album.
First I will say that although her voice is not what it once was, she is in fairly good vocal form.
The song choices are good but not great.
The arrangements are adequate but not spectacular.
Over all I would say Whitney Houston's new album is average, it is not a knock your socks off comeback album.
I am one who generally enjoys established artists moving forward with new sounds and styles, but in this case I much prefer Whitney Houston's first two albums. she was at her best at that time period.
